Minor leak code if you do not smell fuel in back seat: start with the updated shut-off valve with harness, if code comes back throw in a fuel neck, they leak internally and no smoke test will confirm it is this. that fixes about 95% of the issues with minor leak. We have seen 2 come back needing fuel tanks but that is not the norm.

Search my name i had a similar problem about a month ago i thought it was a gas cap changed it still had the same problem. Redbulljunky suggested to change the vent valve/charcoal canister dealer refers to it as a vent valve canister ($65.00) part. Very simple to replace takes literaly 5 mins but before you do all that check the line that goes to the vent valve canister it may have disattached it self from were it is connected to and causing it to take in more air then it suppose to have. Good luck and pm me if you need anything else.

I got the exact code on saturday. I was driving normal and next thing you know I got the red check gas cap screen and check engine light. I checked the gas cap and it was tight. I parked and came back and the check engine light was still on but the red screen didn't come back. Cleared the code and nothing came back so far. *knock on wood* hopefully just a glitch.

ERROR CODE P0455- SMALL EVAP LEAK
I had this pop up as well. First time was a month ago. Had it checked by my indy mechanic... nothing found reset check engine light.
Today it just popped up again- called him and he thinks it's the gas tank seals?
thoughts thanks

Hey Guys, it is definitely the fuel sending unit. I have the same issue again CEL, gas cap warning and will need a third sending unit in 4 years. The recall was done and sending unit replaced in late 2008, again in early 2011 and just got the check engine and gas cap code a few weeks back. In 2011 the stealer replaced all kinds of sensors in the engine, new gas cap, new canister and the issue came back until the sending unit was replaced. The stealer looks at this as a money grab, follow the flow chart and keep replacing parts and they never solve the problem. The problem is the FSU and /or gas tank. My indy found the leak and the dealer also failed to install the vacuum line therefore one side of engine had to be torn down to get at it. File a complaint with NHTSA. Good luck with it, I love the car but this is beyond frustrating.

I had the same issue, tried repairing gas cap, looking for present fuel leaks, nothing. Code suggested small evap leak. Well, it was the pcv hose going from the driver side valve cover to the y pipe into the bottom of the throttle body. Unplugged battery too reset code, and all is well.

purge valve
hi guys (i got a C32 02) but what about the purge valve i read above someone has changed it,why?what happened with ur car to change it?my car is actually suffering from a shaky engine when in idle without rpm fluctuations we hooked a scanner and we got something about the purge valve i observed it and its ticking intermittently (i guess it should be ticking continuously) does it cause such shake behavior?is it related by any way to fault p0410 secondary air injection system?appreciate all the help guys which is indeed needed and btw my water pump isnt in good shape but still hanging although i doubt it may have any thing to do with engine shaking thnx

I had the same code pop up recently , and took the car to MB dealership and they said `` M AMG has updated Emissions Thresholds and limits as well as Spark and Injection timings , so upon inspection found an engine update and performed engine update as per DAS recommendations "
First few days after the update, there was smell of gas from outside of the car when it was parked for a prolonged period of time and now everything is fine.

Check vacuum hose just under the fuel line on the driver side apron ,
make sure you check both ends. Mine likes to pop off from time to time, also my original one was really dry rotted on the ends so even if it seems like its on good it's probably cracked

Oh yeah lol, good thing I'm on free re-tunes for life list.
It wipes the ECU clean and then updates it , when I got the car back I was like damn w t f happened and then realized oh no way !
So yeah tune would be required again, it'll suck if your car was dyno tuned and no file was saved

Getting Code 1081 on my wife's 2010 E350
Morning all,
I'm getting code 1081 'A Fine Leak in the Evaporating Emission Control System was detected'. I'm reading the thread and I checked the gas cap, it's tight. Checked the Purge Valve, and the connections to it are tight. I have not checked the gas tank to see if it's the sending unit. I cleared it a few times and it keeps coming back after 20 miles of driving or so. I have not seen any information on that error code. Attached is the screen shot. Any suggestions would be most appreciated..
