Hello, I am new to this board as I am just now starting to investigate this awesome new automobile. I'm sure I'll have several questions over time, but for now I'd like to know how long the wait is for a customer order for the E55? Do all MB dealers have access to AMG cars? Thank you.

all dealers have AMG. the waiting lists vary. call around. dealers rarely swap AMG cars,so what they get is it for them.i'm in sales in ny, we have about a 6-8 mos wait. its tough to know the allocation of cars, its really a quessing game prior to an allocation.
i do have an open car on the ground 10k over sticker

Someone recently reported seeing one for sale at MSRP in Autoweek. A number of people on wait lists appear to be backing out due to the economy. I'm sure an E55 can be had for a very reasonable price within 4-6 months if you check around.

Porsche 997 Turbo
I know this doesn't help you much but anyway: over here in Germany, my dealer (which is the second biggest one in Bavaria and an official factory subsidiary, not a private dealer) got 2 (two) E 55 AMG spots from January 2003 until the model year ends (around july). 2 cars, this is ridiculous. He had one car in stock from a customer who couldn't pay the car he ordered and because I didn't want to wait any longer (my new E 55 AMG order has been delayed until end of June), I took this E 55 AMG from stock after the boss of the dealership agreed to this deal.
The DVD Nav has to be retrofitted (at no cost, I already paid the COMAND, car still has APS 50), the official kit will be available to german dealers around July (don't bother to ask: the retrofit is not available to US customers, apparently due to the incorporated Sat Radio option and other issues).
The E55 seems to be a highly wanted car over here in Germany. You get SL 55 (stock cars!) as many as you want but it is almost impossible to find a E55 in dealer stock. My dealer has a SL 55 AMG, a SL 600, a SLK 32 AMG and a CLK 55 AMG available for immediate delivery but when customers inquire about the E 55, they have to wait until autumn or even winter. It is a shame.![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
One reason seems to be that DC ships most E55 to the US.![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I get my car next tuesday and I promise to post a lot of pictures and a driving report (comparison to my former 996 Turbo and my wife's SLK 32 AMG...if anyone is interested).![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Good luck and order your E 55 as soon as possible. I don't think E55 waiting times are going to be shorter over the next few months. A lot of people are waiting to see what the new MY is bringing and you might find yourself with no E55 even in 2004 if you don't order it in time. The economy is weak, this is right. But the E55 is a good deal compared to the S 55 and SL 55 and people might realize that sooner or later and go for the E55 instead.
