VIN ground off of motor
Yeah, sounds shady huh? The guy's story is pretty good as to why there's no VIN where the VIN should be (top of the part of the crankshaft plate is).
Anyone know if there's another location on the block/engine/motor where I can find a VIN that may have been overlooked?
Want to make sure that things are legit or run away if they're not.
edit: not the body or frame of the car, just the engine.
thanks!

Instead, there’s an 'engine number' on the rearmost upper portion where the transmission’s bellhousing adjoins, which corresponds to MB’s original build sequence documentation.
No harm in using a salvaged block so long as its provenance is on the up and up.
Is this intended for your https://mbworld.org/forums/slk-class...p-n-slk63.html project?
