Part of the family now

Hey guys, officially part of the family now. Bought a 2005 e55 today. Everything on this car is immaculate, Looks brand new. Only one flaw with the car so far is the heat/cool seats fuse blew out. The dealership fixed it by replacing the fuse again with a new one but on the drive home from the dealership it went out again. Anybody have any idea on what could be wrong?

Congrats, welcome to the Secret Society of Ultimate Sleepers...
It would be nice to hear some details on the beast, Any mods?
Factory Options? How many miles? Future Plans?..... Sorry no idea about the Ventilated seat issue. I am sure somebody will be able to help.

I will post pics tomorrow! I got her back late tonight so picture quality would be crap. Anyway, took it for a blast up the freeway tonight. Noticed that in sport mode the car went unusually flat and felt way under powered. Is that weird too?

The car is an 05. Has all the options except the pano roof or push button start. It has 78,000 on it. The exterior still looks brand new. Very happy with its cosmetic condition inside/out. The previous owner even chromed the rims and had the mercedes ipod kit installed.

Your loss of power could be from the intercooler not cooling down the supercharger which could cause it to go out, in which case the car doesnt even feel as fast as an 350 engine. This is common as it has happened to my dad on the both of his SL55's that he has had.

Exactly, didn't even feel as fast as a 350. So it was due to heatsoak then? It is a common thing to happen or is it common as in I need to replace the intercooler?

I believe both of my dads intercoolers were replaced but i am not positive, sorry i cant be more help with that! But this problem can happen if the car sits for a long time and isnt run, which is what the dealer told us.

IC pump failure... Very common on 55k cars.

Do a little searching and you'll see many solutions from very basic (factory replacement) to heavily modified cooling systems (additional reservoirs in the trunk etc).

Whatever your future mod plans are you should plan accordingly with your additional cooling.

The intercooler coolant pump is what usually needs to be replaced. You can fit the updated OEM pump or the Johnson CM30...or some other equivalents.

Welcome home! First thing you gotta do is swap out the faulty stock ic pump with a johnson cm30. But, more importantly. Where are the pics?

2005 but check that center console. Thats weird, I thought they converted to the "roll-out" center in 05? Must be an early 05 model that they used 04 parts on lol

Congrats bro. First thing I would do it get a bigger aftermarket heat exchanger and replace the intetcooler pump with a meziere electric pump. You will never have supercharger shut down shin on the stock pulley. Were you part of the svt family too?

So until I change those parts out, is this going to be problematic for me? Just means not to hammer on it as much?

Yes, I was a ford lightning guy. I had two of them sold one. I still have my 93 full effect lightning. That thing turns heads, let me post a pic up.

Exactly, you are reading my mind. That is exactly what threw me off and raised the question.

It's not going to be a huge problem unless the pump is bad. You will still encounter heat soak every once in a while, but you don't have to treat the car with kid gloves.

I've had heat soak once since I got the car last June. It really sucked, too, because I was playing with a Gallardo.

A meziere pump and heat exchanger can be had for around $450 for the set. You could do the pump first and when you add go fast mods, add the heat exchanger then. Once you take care of that faulty pump, you will not have supercharger shut down on the stock pulley. These two will be a great start for cooling.

Summit sells the pump, make sure to get the correct fittings too:

Meziere pump part # WP 136s
(2)WP12034B(AN-12 to 3/4" hose barb fittings for the piping

Great HE for the money:
