Throttle body mod
Guys
I bought a used throttle body from an 04 e55 that had been ground down already but it doesn't seem to be a straight swap on my 05.
My thottle body had a heavy rubber guard around the thottle gear housing that is bonded in place. the wire that clips into the thottle body is also bonded in place.
The large rubber cover has AMG on it, so I think it's all stock.
I looked up some STAR service manual stuff and it says the wire harness should NOT be removed from the thottle body as it's bonded.
Is this something anyone else has come across?
Is this something people just ignor?
Here's a pic as well.
thanks for any help

They are the same. I had the same issue. You'll need to get the wire harness that is about 18" long from the throttle body to the connector on the passenger side valve cover area. The ones with the "boot" seem to have the wire harness firmly attached where the other version tb has a removable wiring setup.

Just went through this some weeks back and purchase the harness. Finally decided to grind my stock one that has the connector glued on. Could sell you the harness or get you the part number if you're interested
