So did anyone try the fans in the bottom cushion? Also try setting your vents to bi-level which will get airconditiong to the floor then picked up by the fans now blowing in the right direction (toward the body).
Anyone from South FL try this mod yet?
I would need to do this for the new SL I have coming in and my delaership is making this fan exchange sound overly complicated.
Thanks

RJC: This is DIY job if you have a dremel and a box cutter.

Thanks Berti! Just ordered 5 fans.....$59.50 total.
I spoke with a Mercedes tech friend of mine, and he seems to recall that the seat bottom can be removed individually without pulling the entire seat out of the car... supposedly only held in place with a couple of bolts. Can anyone confirm this?
I'm not worried about a few rivets in my way on the lower cushion, I'll drill those out if necessary to gain access. If my luck holds, I'm going to replace all 5 fans in the driver's seat (3 in lower cushion, 2 in seatback) and make my assessment.

The stock fan, is a Papst, PBT-GF20-FR size is 60x60x10mm, it is very weak as we all know. I found quite some time looking for a best replacement fan, ie. size that fit (from 60mm to 80mm) and significantly more airflow, while noise was not a concern. I found the Delta EFC0812DB-F00 to be a good replacement. Berti_00 found a great place to get them for even cheaper.

Have you tried setting your ac to bi-level to see if the new fans pick up the cold air going to the floor and if so is the seat bottom getting cold?
Thanks

Dude, I just realized you are talking about a 2013 SL, maybe you should wait to see how the seats perform before hacking them, with the air-scarf feature and so on, the seats are bound to be completely different, and, I'm sure, performing much better.

The seats dont blow cold or strongly at all we tried them at the dealership and they appear to be the same as the previous design drawing air down through the cushion vs up into it etc. Did you do the bottom cushions too?

Berti, when you do yours can I tempt you to bring your car down to west palm and meet at Renntech? I'm trying to get them to do this mod on my new SL. I'll pick up the tab for your fuel.
