How wrong is it for me to do this?

I don't hate my E55 front bumper/grill but it looks pretty dated and the 07+ front ends look sooooo much better. I thought of doing the E63 front end conversion but it's so freaking expensive and I haven't found a decently priced used one either....and then I ran into this bumper:

I'm guessing it's from an amg appearance package or something, but I think it looks pretty sweet and modern...and best of all is that I've actually found some pretty cheap.

Would I be crazy to put an E350/E550 bumper on my E55?

Looks good, black out the grille and fog light grilles and you are all set

If you don't mind going OEM there are some aftermarket E63 bumpers on eBay. Also if you have any auto body connections have them get you a price on a reconditioned OEM bumper and it will save you a few $$$

Looks good. Only concern would be at resale time. Somebody might ask why you changed it ( Ie hiding an accident). I had that concern myself, but finally got fed up with my stone chips and just got the bumper painted and finally installed my carlsson lip. Bottome line is you have to drive it, so might as well love it..

I saw that, but after including the fog lamps, grills and shipping ( I live in PR ) it'll come out to over $1,500 and I still would have to prep it and paint it ( which I can do myself ) but I fear that after maybe $1,700 total it may not be that great of a fit. The pics posted on ebay look good as hell though. I'm actually contemplating it.

I may just get a lip and be done with it.

Was just going to mention going a cf front lip.. It really does add a lot to the front.. However, you cant beat the 63 front end

how about the prior design front bumper? I think they go for about 1000.

Can anyone else confirm because I was under the impression that the AMG's have a wider front track/engine compartment to accommodate the larger motor. With that in mind, I always assumed one couldn't fit an 07+ sport package bumper on an AMG

They aren't any different, the front ends are interchangeable.

I'm looking at a front lip and updated headlamps. I just can't justify spending over $2K for an E63 front when I can better spend it on go fast goodies...lol.
