lasered at 92 mph...

Pulled over today going 92 on a wide open freeway...saw him jump in his car so I pulled over right away. Luckily I mentioned that I work at the local hospital and was just very polite "yes sir, I know I was speeding, sorry sir. please check my driving record, I have a clean record". Also must've been in a good mood because he gave me just a verbal warning on speed but a fix it ticket for no front plate. Bummer is that I don't want to drill my front bumper (which is a brabus rocket).

Does anyone know how/if I can get away with somehow attaching the front license plate for inspection without actually drilling holes into it?

Also, does anyone know roughly how much that speeding ticket would have cost me? I figure about $4-500?

(sorry for posting on the e55 board, but the cls forum is pretty dead)

In Cali, fixit tickets do not go through judges whatsoever. They're checked off by an officer at police station, and then the ticket is paid for at the court.

I do not believe the cops will take zip ties though, they're pretty strict here. Most of them demand that they're actually drilled into the bumper with screws. But if you REALLY want to deceive them, shave off a few screws, superglue the heads onto the license plate, and then use 3M tape to connect the plate and the bumper. Make it look convincing though, or they're going to look closely and notice you're BSing them

Otherwise you can pay the fine of like, $500 to write off the fixit ticket and not put on the plates at all.

Not sure where you are located but I got caught doing 78 MPH (was doing 85 MPH but saw the cop and hit the brakes, cop asked me how fast I was going and I gave him the usual "I am unsure" to which he told me 78 MPH and I quickly replied "that sounds about right") in a 55 MPH and got a $525 ticket (was reduced to $200 as it was my first ticket in over 7 years)

As far as the license plate, I too do not have a front plate nor do I want to drill into my bumper. I have found this option which seems like it may be fun as I could have it hidden and if I got pulled over pop it out and be like "what do you mean I don't have a front plate officer???" I wouldn't mind messing with the pigs a little bit...

Here is a video of the plate in action:

lol. pretty close. I'm the director of the radiology dept at a level II trauma center. I have used that a couple times and both times it worked to get out of tickets. I make sure to show them my work badge. We work pretty close with local LE and chp. In fact, the LAPD brought one of their officers who was shot during a domestic violence call a couple weeks back. Thankfully he pulled through.

Thanks imracerx. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they have one for the cls.
I'll give them a call tomorrow though and see if they have anything that will work.

FYI ; from what i have been told for laser tickets since i beat one they usually point @ the front plate for a reflection and this is how laser works . i beat my ticket based on the fact that he claimed laser but he wrote radar on ticket .

velcro that plate Temoprarily and then pull it off !!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys stop when the blues come on? I was doing 130 and saw the cop turn on his lights and puched it to 160-170 for about 20 seconds and took the first exit.

Me and my cuz were rancing and we both bounced on the cop.

I figured at that speed plus racing is automatic jail and car towed so we were like **** it and punched it.I didnt sleep that night feering they cought me on camera off the exit.

When I had my audi TT some guys used to put strong magnets behind the bumper. They would then use the magents to hold the plate for the inspection.

LMAO I worked at level II as well in the ER as an FP in SoCal. Twice I flashed my badge and got off. Once on the 10 caught at 110 and a second time on the 405 going 95. The officer told me I like you docs. Do you think you can keep it under a hundred? Im not pushing my luck and I have invested in a laser/k ,X band radar detector. Plus Im in Missouri now and not sure they are as forgiving as CHP.

LOL! There is an ER doc who has a TT997 that was racing one of the x-ray tech's who has a built mustang and they were caught doing over 100 on a two lane 45 mph limit road right across from the hospital and they both got let off the hook...hehe. It does seem to work!

+1 on the ticket sign-off. But $500 for a write-off? In LA county a parking ticket for no front plate is $38 and if caught while driving, its $80-90. If you mail in the payment, you don't have to fix it but then you might get cited again.

I had a similar situation. A cop made a left turn in front of me onto a crossroad and slowed down drastically while pointing at my front bumper. I thought he was pointing at the $5-hoe walking near the intersection but I was wrong. In my rearview I saw him stop and bust a U with lights flashing. I immediately punched it onto a right-hand highway entrance ramp at a very sharp angle from the left lane. A red-light cam flashes due to my rolling turn (you're supposed to stop first). It gets the front and side of my car but not my rear plates, since my right turn was from the far left lane. Officer Loser enters the highway too but becomes a dot on my six then gives up chase probably thinking he could get my info from the red light picture or video. 3 months later I call the DMV and county court to see if I had any red light tickets outstanding since I needed to renew my registration, even explained to them that I was flashed. They reply "No". BIG F-U to that cop and the whole department where it occurred (a Bay area ghetto city) - they are worse than the street thugs and they prefer to go after nice cars because we pay the fines. Catching bad guys yields no money but ticketing good guys who don't want to drill up our fronts will gain the city at least $10 every time.

Different county probably (I think you were pulled in LA) but in the OC- I have a pending no plates visable ticket and the officer checked the fixable box; the fee is 25 and proof of correction or 225 and no correction.

Im so lazy im just gonna pay the 225. Its not a moving violation so no points on the record here in Cali.
