Could Audi have missed the mark anymore on that car!!??
A gorilla engine would have put that baby down as one of the all time greats. Such a great presence when you see it coming down the road smiling...only to put the whimpiest of whimpy V10s in it (the initial engine before everyone rioted). She should have been 600hp MIN from the factory.

Not once, but TWICE. Dont forget the 4.2 V8.
Frankly, I came to the conclusion that Audi simply doesn't care for the enthusiast side of the family. Shame for a company with such rich race history.
I used to be a huge Audi guy, owned several but after the B5S4 (2.7tt motor) was replaced with the slow 4.2 V8 I was done.

??? The current R8 yes, same as Gallardo engine.
I was referring to the previous model with the 4.2L V8. Same as RS4 uses, which is also underpowered IMO.
I know a guy here with a supercharged R8 and that cost him 25k. Thats how that car shouldve come from the factory.

Have to say thats a gr8 kill that R8V10 is no slouch by any means... hangs with 997TT easily, if not a touch faster round a track...

So I almost never brag about how fast our cars are but I really have to.
On my way home tonight I see what looks like an Audi R8 Spyder up ahead so I speed up to catch up to it. Two guys with the top down and it sounds amazing. It's a grey blue color and still has paper tags. There was loads of traffic around so there was deffinately no high spped driving until there's a gap in traffic, he guns it and I follow, just enough of a run before we slow it down due to more traffic. We give each other the thumbs up and grin. Well we ended up turning into my subdivision, and I'm thinking to myself this is so cool having a neighbor with an R8 Spyder! The light ahead turns red I siwtch lanes and I pull up next to him give the thumbs up and tell them how superb it sounds from behind. The driver and passanger almost in unison yell you car is f%&king quick, what's it got?! I simply said it's just and AMG, light turns green and we went our seperate ways. AWESOME experience.
