Help: new engine or rebuild?

I went with new high flow injectors because according to the dyno sheet the car is making 502whp all the way to 6400 rpm! I plan on going with the TTM fuel rail setup this winter when I reinstall the 180.
The S55 m113k motor from Michigan (long block) w/ 39k miles, all accessories and future maintenance parts such as mounts, seals, exc installed after taxes for 9,500. The labor also included my long tubes, throttle body, cats, and complete exhaust set up. After all new upgrades and dyno tune the final cost was just over 14k.
For those of you who ever have or get the cylinder # 8 detonation failure you can get a motor and do the swap for around 7-8k. I paid more to have my car shipped to Renntech, engine compression test before install and a full

jwoodcl55, I have been reading your posts, and I beleive that I can help. I talked to my boys at Benz Elite Automotive were, I had a complete transmission serviced today. Just read through this long thread and that's ashame about your car, sounds like bad knock condition. Building a mean V6 GN in my sig and paying ALOT of attention to a/f's and so forth....Does anyone offer a dual-fed fuel rail for these cars? And does anyone offer a progressive methanol injection kit for these cars? These problems seem like age-old problems w/ detonation that many turbo guys have already dealt with....ashame this kit couldnt work for the guys pushing more boost http://www.alkycontrol.com/ as it does wonders on alot of boosted cars including the new CTS-V guys who want to push the boost. Also noticed upgraded injectors, is the factory fuel pump keeping them fed under full boost? I'm a AMG newbie but not a boost newbie, plan on grabbing a E55 very soon.
