Chirping my tires at 60mph on a hot SoCal day 1200ft above sea level is simply addicting. That's my only complaint because tires aren't exactly cheap.

The car is a bulldog in character. Lazy, fat and looks mean. But if you mess with it enough, it will bite hard.

This kind of made me laugh. My two primary cars are an E55 wagon and a Porsche 996TT.

The E55 is a MUCH bigger rush off the line. I'm not disappointed at all.

I have a strong suspicion that it is the latter and that many suffer from E55 envy.
So what is the question ?
Coz' my answer is no.

Doesn't look like the OP got the answers he was looking for. I am perfectly happy with my E55... The only thing I would trade it in on is a 2012 CLS 63... It's everything I want in a four-door sedan!

Only thing that ever disappoints me is that very few ever want to take me on! Not sure why...

As stated above, there is a lot of natural variability in the performance of our cars and some of us (me included) may have been disappointed that our cars did not measure up to many of the beasts in this forum. This is not to say I do not get a hard on every time I accelerate from a light (and believe me it is not as easy to get a hard on when your 63 versus 20 something). Its just that I thouight my car was below average and I wondered how many others felt the same way. That is why I went with the K1 mod and the improvement has been amazing, which makes me think much of the problem may have been with the ECU.

Haeelll no. I drove my car round trip 400 miles this past week, and I loved it. It's a very special car - I don't feel exhausted driving for long periods of time, like I do in other cars.

It's poised, smooth, planted and fast. PLUS for the 400 mile trip, I averaged 24mpg! Less than one tank of gas. I did better than I had thought.

Funny to see people race up on my a$$, and then fall waaaaaayyy back, not wanting to mess with me, after they see the AMG badge.

Disappointed? Certainly not! Sometimes wonder what a seven speed transmission might add to performance but then I understand they may not be as reliable as our five speed models...

The first versions (2007) of the 7G Tronic had some hiccups (software and valve body issues) but the current versions are all pretty solid now. They'll be going to an 8 speed soon. CAFE rules and fuel economy, etc..

All AMGs will have the MCT now anyway. Which is kinda too bad, they really should get the DCT that the SLS has. It's a true dual clutch.

My courage runs out before the power does.

Best car I've ever owned.
