Who is disappointed in their car's performance
We hear alot from members who feel their car is a true beast, but we rarely hear from members who feel that their car just doesn't measure up. Are any of you disappointed in your car's performance and , if so, why? Did you lose to a stock M5, vette, etc. or are you so blown away by stories and videos posted by others that you feel your car just doesn't measure up? I have a strong suspicion that it is the latter and that many suffer from E55 envy.

Not disappointed at all as in fact very proud to own them. I didn't buy E55 for speed only, i bought them because luxury, look, comfort, power... a lot of factors combine. I plan to keep my both E55 for at least 5 more years. The depreciation is just too high, plus, what else I can replace with my 06 E55 ? CTS-V ? true maybe better in power but may not as comfort and financial stand point. So I plan to keep it for long, the longer I keep them, the less $$$ I lose !

I'm disappointed...
Disappointed I didn't get a 55 and the 63 costs so much to mod for the gains I'll see.
Still race any one, any time, though. Only been beat once so far.

I will admit I wish our cars had shorter 3rd,4th and 5th gearing other than that I really cant find anything I dont like about the cars performance....
OHHH WAIT
our cars need an LSD from the factory, that is my only problem with the car

I am disappointed in the performance because when I stick my arm out the window and my passenger does the same on his side we dont take off and FLY. How many more mods are needed for that.

The only things that disappoint me are:
1.) The manual shift mode ('M' selected) is sluggish at best compared to systems on modern M3s or M5s.
2.) I cannot get the stupid traction control system to turn TOTALLY OFF!! I will push the ESP button, and the yellow triangle pops up suggesting it is off, but I was doing some spirited driving in the country and going through a corner I should have been able to power out of, the traction control still kicked in and would not let me power through with wheel spin. Is there any way to fix that?

It's my daily driver and does its job well. There are always going to be faster cars, so there's no point whether or not it can or can't beat XYZ car. And new faster models appear every year. That concern is pointless, imho.
These are just an E Class Mercedes with a big motor. Nothing extraordinary. They are decent cars for daily driving.
If the car is enjoyable for you then it's doing its job. If not then get rid of it. And no single car out there is ever going to be perfect.

1.) I completely agree with you that the M mode is quite sluggish, but I don't think comparing our "old" 211's to "modern" day cars is fair...
2.) Search Dyno Mode...

Lol I'm in the process of replacing my engine and still have no regrets! I am disappointed I will not be driving it for the next two weeks and am stuck driving my 08 TL...
M mode sucks, this car is my first automatic, however I enjoy S mode in manual with its automatic "blip" upshifts

I'm disappointed in my car's performance in that I never get to use it. The average mph over my last 6500 miles was 27mph. My drive to work is slow, boring and no one ever wants to play.

I still hold that each 55 engine sets up different and the ones with lower compression just don't slay at the track like the others. Strong as my motor is, she is one of the lower compression setups and for that ONLY I am a bit bummed. She most likely will never be a 10 sec car like some. Otherwise, the greatest I have ever owned until I try the twin turny soon.
