HEADS-UP ON PARTS.COM
Almost placed an online order with Parts.Com for about $1200 until I noted a standard ground shipping charge of $180 for about 10 lbs of parts. After I called Parts.Com I was informed the shipping charges were correct and are calculated as a percentage of the total cost of the order. I cancelled the order and placed a new order with www.oediscountparts.com for a lower price and free shipping.

Yeah , I notice that when I ordered a 1 lb part and it was 20.00 shipping and 2.00 handling . for a 130.00 part. I will look into oediscountparts.com in the future. better than the stealer but sure is shady business practice.

When I was ordering all my parts (except the bumper itself) for my E63 front conversion from parts.com the shipping came out to 150. I talked with a rep and they cut it to 50.

Their shipping prices are fawkin ridiculous, but they ship fast, and prices on all the parts seem to be less than everyone else so I guess it's about the same thing.

oediscountparts.com is an MB dealer (I believe in NC) and their prices are the same or less than parts.com and all orders over $50 ship free. They have always shipped promptly (usually the same day). In fact, I had one item dropped-shipped to me directly from MBNA.

Actually guys they are very honest!!! I ordered my entire list of E63 conversion front end and rear end parts for about $2600, and they charged me only $95 for shipping!!! You need to send them a message about shipping with freight and the price will be super cheap

UPDATE: Ordered my E63 front parts minus the front bumper from parts.com...shipping was $174!!
The rep on parts.com forwarded me to Jerry from Benz of Naperville and he said shipping quote will not change. They use the shipping prices to recoup some of their profit because they are selling the parts so cheap. Would be better if they were just upfront with the prices vs charging more for shipping..Oh well the prices are cheaper than any place I've checked but wasn't too fond of the explanation.

Parts.com is terrible they rape you on shipping and now recently it seems like it takes atleast 3 days for them to process the damn order.

Part cost the same to Parts.com (dealer to dealer) but they make even more on the shipping.
You get the part a day or two early and forget about the shipping charge.
I gave them a try once, fool me once

From their FAQ:

Seems clear enough to me.

parts.com has the cheapest prices I've found. Yes their shipping is a raping, but its still loads cheaper than the dealer.
Use them or not, but they are upfront about what the shipping costs. Its not like they don't give you a shipping quote.

I still think its bs that they tell you they offer the lowest prices but again rape on shipping. Don't tell me how amazing your prices are and user that as justification for outrageous shipping prices

Parts.com is the best and those who complain about shipping costs should have not placed an order in the first placed because it shows you beforehand. If you in fact e-mail them regarding freight shipping the cost will be extremely cheap as I have done it on a few occasions (it actually is shipped fedex ground).

Comparing prices on parts for my transmission build, Parts.com is cheaper on every single part vs. oediscountparts. So far around $50.00 less than oediscount and I'm not yet completed. I ordered one item-a gasket from oediscountparts parts and was charged $10.00 for shipping an item that they used camel UPS ground which must have cost at the most $5.00 and almost 2 weeks to receive. Over $50.00 and they offer free shipping but the turnaround was just slow in my last experiences with them.
So far it looks like parts.com will get my business.

Well I just purchased a whole W211 E63 conversion front bumper , rear bumper side skirt and all the bumper accessories and shipping cost $250 from parts.com but the front bumper was $260 more at OEdiscountparts.com and the rear was $220.00 more at OEdiscountparts.com. So you end up paying more at OE

It depends on what you buy from parts.com
I agree that larger items and higher priced items you might as well go with parts.com for the sheer savings but I order my e63 conversion minus the bumper and paid less at OE
