Add me to the failed Airmatic list

was driving today and heard a loud pop. I figured it was the airmactic. Drove it to Motorwerks of Houston. The owner was kind enough the lend me his 1979 300D.
Plan to get some more work done on the car so it seems like I will be driving a old school benz for a while

Sorry to hear that Shardul. What's the plan for replacement? So you are rocking the original Turbo Benz now!

I'm sure you know, but check out the Arnott replacement air struts. Much cheaper than dealer.

Now that's a drop!

And everything I've read on here says you shouldn't drive on a popped airbag?

Sorry for the newbie question but.....if the airmatic goes out you can replace them with coilovers? Is that more reliable and less expensive? Just asking for future reference.

Shar, the guy that has my CLS just had one go out from hitting a pothle. Used Arnott and said it was a perfect fit for dirt cheap.

Sorry to hear that bro. It would be hard for me to give up the airmatic though. What does Arnott run?

Car free at the moment
Wow, that '79 123 is really clean looking. How does it feel to be minus ~400HP in Houston traffic?

Fronts are piece of cake. Couple hours max but you will need your Star Das for sure.

Arnott working great on mine!

I like the versatility of the airmatic, with different suspension settings, and the ability to raise the car when needed. After the warranty expires, I might consider that coil over swap. I have had a failure in about 1 1/2 years, which is a godd thing.

I feel your pain bro. Got my Arnott strut in yesterday. I'll be out of town this weekend so it will go on next week.
