Jaguar XKR
So heading back from Goodwood Festival with wife, my 2 kids and a friend, when a Jag XK (at the time did not know it was a "R") comes up behind me at some rate of knots, right on my bumper.
With family & co in the car I was not going to entertain a race, but damn I sure would have liked to test the water here.
Anyhow I pull over to the slow lane and he blasts past me like a bat out of hell, not sounding stock.... he sure built up speed very quickly.
But anyhow was wondering if anyone had run ins with these XKR's before and how they fared? Seems similar power to the 55 stock, however when I drove an XKR at Palmer Sport a cple years back they did not feel that strong, but also did not sound as sporty as this car that came past me.
These motors have the roots blower but also have a decent intercooler setup.

Very strong cars now and the all aluminum chassis is light and the car handles quite well (way better then the W211.) In addition there is also the XKR-S with 550 hp and 501 ft lbs torque.
Jaguar is back on the map with a quick and nimble handling GT coupe.

They also have twin top mounts i/c's ... I been looking if we could use these in some way or form... but Jag parts on a Benz... hmm dunno does not sound right.
Anyhow this car that came past me sounded like death warmed up as it flew by me... it was properly moving.... I could not see if it was the latest or older model...
They sure are pretty.

Big change in the 2010 model year. 510-hp, 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 in place of the old model’s 420-hp, 4.2-liter SC motor.

what is wrong with that SL?
i mean i hope the new XFR would be faster than an 8 year old 211 - LOL - only taken a few years to catch up - pound for pound the 211 still puts most cars in their places!!!!!
7 years old and I still love mine!!!!!!!!

I would stil like to meet a stock one @ the strip
make a believer out of me. In my book the W211 E55 was the game changer in uber sedan history. It is the reason we now have the 500+ hp CTS-V's, Jaguar XKR, M5's etc....

The E63 is no slouch (did I say that out loud?) what AMG/MB should have done with the 211 E63 back in 07 was..... kept the same amount torque as the 55 and given it as much hp thhat what was slated for the SLS. It would look something like 565hp & 520ft lbs and mate to a dual clutch trans w 100-120ms shift times & standard LSD with magnetic ride control. If they had done that the W211 E63 would have changed the game again forcing the CTS-V,XKR,M5 and others to come correct or take their ball and go home.

Yeah, except that Daimler AG is a manufacturer. And a for-profit company. And they make several platforms. And they are marketed and sold at certain price points, and for a specific reason (i.e., to sell cars.) Oh, and then there are those pesky little things like DOT regs, export certification, EPA and CAFE rules.
When people start saying stuff like they should have made the E Class (in reality a mid-sized sedan grocery getter) with the same performance as a top end company product (SLS with DCT), I sometimes wonder if they're just living inside their own head.
Anyway the W211 is now history. They aren't made anymore and are of no concern to Daimler or the rest of the world now. They are obsolete cars. And they have no value whatsoever as classics or anything really that special. So just use them for what they really are: decent (although expensive to maintain) grocery-getters. And then buy something more up to date.
