common CEL code?
Today when I started up my 2007 E63 I got a CEL light on .I pulled the code and it said : P0171, System Too Lean ,Bank 1. Any insight as what could be the cause? A friend of mine gets the sme code on his time to time and his goes away. I reset mine and it came back 20 minutes later under normal driving conditions.
Is there a list of TSB's fpr this year car posted anywhere? I just picked this car up last week and drove it just twice and this code poped up.

Nothing done but oil changes recently that I was aware of.could a simple vacuum leak be the cause? It seems to come on soon as I start the car. And after I clear the code and start the car it has a rough idle for about 1 minute and then levels out smooth.I been tryn to read up on all the basic info on these here by searching old posts. Any helpful links would be a great help. I got a few minor issues to fix on the interior but that's a different thread.

Well it is possible, but also may not be. If my memory serves me right, that is a mixture adaptation out of limit code. I have seen 156 with intake manifold leaks-or may just be a line. Look around the back of airbox where it mounts to the throttle body for anything out of place. You can also take a can of brake cleaner and spray around the base of the intake. If you get a change of rpm....bingo

Still no luck. I even swapped the left and right MAF sensors to see if the code would change to Bank 2. But it still comes back as system too lean Bank 1. What else can I look for? I heard there is a breather somewhere in the back of motor that could have failed or collapsed? Any insight would be great guys.
I do notice every time I clear the code That the first time I start the car it has a rough idle for 8 seconds like it has a lumpy cam in it. Tehn it smoothes right out and never has a hicup again. There is no effects I can see while driving either.

Juggernaut23 did you ever remedy this cel problem? Bringing an old thread back to life. I have a 07 ML63 with the identical problem you describe, from spraying brake cleaner on the manifold listening for changes to the engine right down to clearing the cel and getting a rough idle at initial start up lasting about 5 to 10 seconds before smoothing out.
Anyway I was wondering if you ever found the solution to this problem?

check the way you clipped back the air boxes and put the charcoals back in or take the K&N's out .make sure the MAF sensors arent loose or upside down .

All is well. I took the K&N filters out and put the stock charcoal/Air filters back in and all is good 2k miles later.
