How is having more traction going to hurt me or anyone else? In not talking about racing im just trying to enjoy first gear again on the street.

i'd be willing to bet that you could spin any d/r without heating them up properly on a cold night like that.
i've never dyno'd in 4th but i made 640rwtq on dynocomp's dyno and hook up fine at the track when my 255 d/r's are heated properly.
btw, i'm not trying to talk you out of it because i'd like to see how wide we can go...just letting you know that 315's aren't a requirement for traction.

I have a problem with my car not being able to put down the power so I would drive with this setup 24/7.I cant use first gear at all, here is my car with new mickey thompson drag radials using a 265/45/18 or 40 cant remember since I sold them to Aknight not to long ago.

My first gear is a joke and my car made 598rwt on its 4th pull in 4th gear on the dyno,it would of broke 620ftlbs if we used 4th gear on the first pull instead of 3rd etc.
So when I said the ultimate setup I ment for me driving it the way I want for the street(to put down the power)and the track to get in some fast passes.
I want my car to look good and also HOOK up on the street where it counts.
The tire I picked out is the 315/30/18 mickey thomson DR.I wanted to use this tire after my friend showed me them on his big T4 single turbo supra.
I was shocked how he got that sucker to fit on a 10in wide wheel and then started thinking I might be able to fit it on our cars.
the specs on the MT 315 are 25.5 in tall and that is the same hight as a stock E55 with 265/35/18 tires,so the hight is not a problem.I just need to see how much room we have to play with and see if there is enough space to fit a 12in wide tire that is 25.5 in tall.
some people are running 295/35/19s and those tires are almost just as wide but are almost a full inch taller than the MT I want to run.

QUOTE=markpetersonii;4763602]When you said that the street is where it counts. I'm pretty sure we went over this already.[/QUOTE]
Iv been driving on drag radials for the past 2 years,iv bought over 6 different brand regular tires and sold most of them on craigslist trying to find a tire that can put the power down on the street.
Meaning not a prepped track with glue on it.
And who the hell cares if I street race anyways,im trying to run 315 because I have traction issues and when I said ultimate drag setup I ment it by driving the car with my forgstar wheels on it the way its supposed to look like and be able to take it to the strip and run a 10 second pass without making the car look like s h I t with some ugly 16 in race wheel on it

Taller and softer sidewalls with good compound are more important than tire width. The problem is that no one wants a tall side wall and soft sidewalls feel squirmy so width and compound seem to be the only way to go. The problem is that I don't think there is a tire known to man that'll hook at low speeds on a 600wtrq vehicle regardless how wide you go. I see vettes with 345 wide sticky tires spinning like crazy with 500+whp and ultra long gear ratios.
I myself have huge traction problems on my 275 wide Toyo T1R's ( which I was told by many people that they are great tires ). I can't get them to hook for the life of me at anything under 40mph ( in 1st ) and they will still spin slightly even at 50mph ( or anything under 50 in 2nd ).
I was thinking of going with Nitto NT05's which seem to be the most aggressive tire available on 19's that aren't 305+ wide. I just don't see 305+wide tires fitting in the rear without scraping.
