What is the absolute stickiest tire you can think of?
Tire must be anywhere from 265/30/19 to 285/30/19 in size.
This automatically eliminates the use of drag radials since I haven't seen any on these sizes. I have seen road race competition tires ( similar to drag radials but with harder sidewalls ) such as the Toyo R888 but they are expensive ( over $400+ each after shipping ) and fear they will be scary slippery when it rains ( which is almost every single day ).
Can anyone give me any other advice? I have Toyo T1R's currently and spin them as if they were made of plastic. I know I won't be able to get a tire that'll dead hook from a standing start but something that'll make me feel like I'm actually accelerating would be nice. I previously had Falken Azenis RT615 's which hooked great when I was stock but they too were no match for my engine as it stands now.
Keep in mind I may go with the Toyo R888 if nothing else is available that would stick...but I wish to be shown more options. Thanks!

I had them on my S65, not sure about sizes for the E. But they are sticky as sh#% and wear out fairly quickly. They were ok in the rain, not great, but loud as hell. Maybe that has something to do with the weight of the S. And I found them really hard to balance, I had to send two back that wouldn't roadforce, but I did finally find a guy who was willing to rotate the tire on the wheel and rebalance for 5 hours and I got them straightened out. I use the NT05R drag radial as well, but the mickey thompson is arguably better.

Ill never buy nittos again,I went to 10 places to get them ballanced and even 2 MB dealers with road force.
Those tires change ballance with a 5 degree drop in temp, they stick well in the summer tho.
You could have them perfect at 65mph at 70 degree weather and then at 60 degrees they shake

Tirerack sells bridgstone Potenza RE-11's which are their #1 Extreme Performance tires for $1503 shipped to PR..ouch. But they may be worth it.
Discount tire direct has the NT05's for $1234 shipped.
Decisions decisions....

Bridgestone RE-11's are extreme performance tires while Michellin PS2's are Max performance tires...can I assume the RE-11's will be stickier? They cost just about as much.

Coming from the God of tires...the Toyo 888s. I started off very hard on my Nitto Nto5s. They had a BIG shoe to fill and I berated them daily with it. A kick in the middle of the night.....a snippy comment as I would walk by, "you THINK you are road racing tire like the 888!!??. HAA HAAAAA" I thought they were gonna crack under the pressure and cry and go home back to Discount Tire. Instead they stayed...and worked harder...you could see the determination on these little rubber guys faces. Sure enough today, in a hot 95 degree day, I punch them and made usual smartass remark about "ready for failure boys" .... but they were ready and had a big surprise for me.
Wouldn't ya know it, they HOOKED and HARD. So friggin hard that my tranny went limp and I had to pull off and restart to reset.
Only had that happen one other time. I walked back calmly squatted down and looked straight in their tire eyes. Instead of hitting them in anger like I had done for so long, their heart and hard work had changed me....made me a better man.
I leaned over as they looked up nervously. I reached out my hand but this time it was soft gentle pat on the sidewall. "Ya did good son. Well done....I am so proud of you boys as I began to tear up a touch" ......as little tire tears rolled down their rims....they knew they had made me forget my 888's for the first time today. \
Roll credits and violins ending.
Please leave your popcorn in the garbage cans people. Help them do their job.

So would you say the NT05's are comparable to the R888? They are pretty decently priced compared to their competition ( pretty much the cheapest ).

Michelin PSS, quiet and sticks like glue, excellent thread wear for E55K.
Good in the wet, once worn in(2000kms). Normal road use.

I just ordered Michelin PSS. Best combo of handling, ride, wear, and wet. Like I said earlier, Nitto NT05s are proly stickier, but the compromises are not worth it unless you are roadracing your car every weekends. And they are not always round, a quality I put a premium on in my tires. But the new PSS's are supposed to be the shizzle. And I bet they are so round.

Just a brief comment on the PSS. A friend just put a set ok his G37S and he LOVES them, so much it's "Jakpro1" scary. I can't personally attest to their grip compared to the factory stones but I am impressed with their ride and grip. I'll be putting them on my girl's G37S soon, but since I only drive the AMG in the dry on the weekend and some Fridays she'll most likely be getting drag radials next. Then again my brother's tire machine and balancer comes in soon so I may be playing with tire options more frequently.

Ive been dying to put R888's on my car ... just cannot get the right size I need! I need 275's....
What about Yokohama AD08's?
Both go from 265-295, ntg in between in 19"

I have the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my car now for about 2K miles. IIRC you are putting down around the same power as I, and I cannot get these tires to hook well. They do better when warmed up of course, but even then I can downshift at around 50MPH and light up the traction control nanny. Wet performance is outstanding though, road noise is minimal, and they certainly corner better than the previous PZero Nero's and Conti 3's I've used.

I guess it may be a useless battle to fight. Maybe I'm just destined to have traction issues forever...lol.

gtr dont waste your time with regular tires, been there done that.Thats why I went pilot super sports in the front and BFG drag radials in the rear.
Once I hear back from the wheels im trying to make fit our cars, you might aswell go 18s and run the setup Im going with.
we need R compound tires in the back and regular tires are a waste of money.
