Need Help, Car Wont Start
i recently purchased a 2006 E55 with 48k miles, after 1 week of owning it my car wouldnt start. once i finally got it working i took it to autozone to see what codes come up and 2 were found, p0456 and p0335. i went on this site to research and found the common cause being the crankshaft positioning sensor, so i bought a replacement part for it, installed it last night and drove home without an issue. this morning when i tried to start my car, it wouldnt run. im not sure what could cause this, i thought i fixed the solution with the CPS. i also installed new K&N filters and i dont think that would cause the issue. ive never had an issue with cold starts. the car usually start on the first try. its after ive driven it for a few hours that when i try to start it, it wont run, and i figured that the heat was the cause of messing up the sensor. i live in vegas and we are avg over 100deg but again i never had an issue during the first start up of the day. im letting the car sit right now with the hood open to cool it down again and once i get it started, i will be going to autozone to run the codes again to see if maybe the sensor i picked up was defective.
anyone have any other ideas as to the cause of this car not starting?
thanks

Sorry but first of all I was out of breath trying to read your post with all the commas and no periods..
I had the CPS issue first and then the fuel pump went bad, same symptoms but different issue. If you are able to restart then get codes but be prepared for it not to start.

Seriuosly the pump and sender units should be replaced at the same time and can be pricey. The job is fairly easy though.

wow, still my car doesnt start. ive let it sit with the hood open for 30 min and that usually does the trick, or at least it did a few days ago. but now it doesnt want to do anything. all the lights turn on when its in the on position and when i turn it with the key, it tries to start but fails. i just need it running so i can take it to the shop to see what else needs to be done. maybe i should have kept the old sensor on since it still let me drive the car after 15 min of waiting

Damn that sucks. I've been there and done it too. What sucked for me is it broke down with the CPS on the freeway but I did manage to get off on the feeder road, the fuel sender in rush hour traffic at a busy intersection and I couldn't get off the road far enough for my liking. It took 30 mins for a wrecker to arrive and get hee loaded. Once back from the dealer the fuel pump quit, so instead fo replacing both at the same time they replaced one knowing the other could fail but couldn't repalce it until it did. Well it did 4 days later!

so the car started, i took it to autozone and the same 2 codes showed up. we cleared the codes and the CEL went away. tried to drive it and it died a block away. now i think there is no fuel going to the engine, i had it towed to the MB dealership and will find out tomorrow what the problem will be, im hoping it just the fuel relay or a fuse that went out.

the dealer called me back and informed me that the only problem with the car was the CPS. i had just replaced it and the part i replaced it with must have been defctive. so im kind of happy that the CPS was the only problem but its a $600 problem. now i have to return the CPS that i bought a few days ago. i guess i shouldnt have gotten the BWD part with the lifetime warranty even with the nascar logo, whats good for nascar isnt good for this AMG
