I'm about to order wheels for my car and I keep hearing from people at work who love their Hankooks. Problem is these guys all have kids and drive Camry's and Honda Odysseys.

I'm not that guy. Right now I'm between Hankook Ventus V12's, Toyo T1-R's and Nitto NT-05's.

I don't need max straight line traction (I drive an E63, no torque). I do however want supreme confidence when I'm cornering, braking, trying to avoid a deer in the middle of the road.

Oh... and forgot to throw in Falken FK452's in there for good measure.

Have had a few sets of hankooks on a few of my different rides (06 M5, 08 ISF)..never had an issue with the tires but they did not to be on the same level as Michelin PS2's that I had. The Hankooks gripped very well and were relatively quiet IMO. But with the price difference (I think PS2's are almost double) I'd go with Hankooks again.

I have the Ventus V12 and they seem to hold very well. I am actually impressed with the way they have handled the power so far. although I am starting to see some bald spots on them after wear and tear...

I ran 452's on a 19" rim for 3+ years on a S4 (summer only, so roughly 8 months a year), and loved them. So much so I just put them on my Monarch's.

I think they have good grip, a stiff sidewall, solid wear, not a lot of road noise, good wet traction, and they are priced pretty good. Oh, and I think they actually have a nice looking sidewall. I've only had them on for a week now, so I can't comment on longevity with a E55, but since I bought them again I think that might count for something.

I have no experience with the other tires you've mentioned, but could comment Bridgestone, BF Goodrich, and various Conti's.

The V12s are my favorite current tire, fine in the cold, but once warmed up they hook up nicely and the price/performance cannot be beat.

I've got a Hankooks V12's on my 2006 CLK55 and I'm very pleased. I've heard some say they don't drive as well longer-term, but I've only had for about 7 months and therefore can't comment. At this point, I'd have no issues buying them for my other cars, though not sure I would for the R500.

On my 2nd set of Hankooks and they are a great tire for the price, plenty of grip, im happy with them so far.
Toyo T1R's get VERY noisy once worn down.
Nitto NT05's will have the most grip, and is well priced to.

I love my V12s They grip really well and hold traction pretty well too.

Go with the Hankooks V12 Ventus for a fantastic all rounder in dry conditions and as a DD.

Michelin PSS, come @ a serious premium, but they do last longer and have such a rewarding and compliant feel.

Hankooks should do the trick though, they taking the market by storm in SA, with M3 E90/92's and new Audi's. Also good on new Nissan GTR's etc...

Hankooks V12 Ventus are good tyres.

Had them now for several months and I'm very happy.
good off the line, low noise and good cornering.
They're not the best tire I've ever run, but they are half the price of the best with very little difference in performance.
Besides, you'll only notice the difference if you are pushing your car to it's limits.
I had potenza's before these and I think the Hankooks are better.
Nitto and Hankooks get a ton of great reviews.
This is my DD, so paying for the best sticky tire would be crazy, I can't be going through tires every 8-10K miles.

I'll agree with everyone else. I had them on my 370Z and my Jaguar S-Type R, they aren't the best that money can buy, but they are 95% there at a 40% discount in some cases. That is a compromise I'm happy to make.

I run the v12s up front (255 35 18) and the T1Rs in the back (285 35 18) and am very pleased. Good grip, quiet ride and have pulled some serious speeds with them. Very dependaple in the rain too driving over puddles.

I've gone through so many sets of tires. At first like a duck I went ahead and bought Michelin PS2's all around as they were on the car when i first bought them. They didn't last too long on the rears. so i replaced the rears with TOYO T1-R's and kept the PS2's up front.

Today I just replaced all 4 tires with Hankook ventus RS-3's as they are significantly cheaper than the PS2's and seem to have very good straight line grip. Sorry thats all i'm looking for, i live in phoenix, all the roads are straight.

so far my favorite's have been the T1-r's but i'll update once i do a few runs with the RS3's

I will not run with those Falken tires again.

The V12 are a good daily driver tire. I am running those now and am pleased. Not as good as Goodyear Asymetrics, but do not have the build defect (see other posts).

Want to go nuts, get Hankook Rs-3.

im running 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 v12's pretty grippy but they are a bit nosier then the bridgestone re760 sport other then that i like them..

Another very happy ventus v12 customer. Much quieter than the stock Continentals and great performance all around. Will be buying again.

They are pretty good tires for the price point. I really miss the cornering and confidence of my NT-05's, but at least I don't have to hope to not hit a thunderstorm anymore...Considering our drought that hasn't been an issue in a while anyways

just purchase hankook v12 for my rear. hopefully they will be better than continental extreme contact DW. I got about 17000 miles out of them and i never burn out in my car. I was extremely disappointed in this tire. It has a 50k warranty rating but did not even come close. I know the rear of my car has negative camber because of the inside edge of tires were worn to the threads.

I have Hankooks on my SL55 and my brother has them on his CLS55. When you are lowered without a camber kit. the hankooks become a good value. They are more affordable than other tires and they seem to preform well. I'd recommend them. Especially if you go through 2 rear sets a year like I do.

I replaced the PS2's on my SL55 with the Hankooks and can't be happier. They do run quieter than the Michelins and best of all the infamous rear tire wiggle is gone. For the price they are hard to beat.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the info. One more question, sizes! I'm going 19x8.5 in the front ET 32. 19x9.5 in the rear ET 35.

From everything I've heard here 255/35/19 Front and 285/30/19 Rear should be just fine right?

i have staggered on my car. not sure what the rear offset is...the rear tire is 275/30/19 i am pretty sure a 285 wide tire will rub...but my car is lowered in the rear and my offset maybe different. i know i did not answer your question just wanted to give you my tire size with staggered wheels.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12's, so far so good. Only a few hundred miles on them.

They've been on the car for 4mos. Excellent grip, wet or dry. I have spun the inside tire cornering, but I think that's a limitation of the rear and not the tires.
