Torque converter lock up clutch, need help!
Gents,
I have a slight hic-up in my rpm's. Let me explain:
From stop, if I step on the gas at 20% I rev to about 1900 RPM's and the tranny "slips" and then continues to go. If I step on her at 30%, it'll start to rev but slip much earlier, maybe at 1600 RPM.
If I step on it at 10%, it will roll smoothly, shift in to second gear and then "slip". The slip sounds like a scrape; a gentle but fast rubbing of metal.
My SA says it's the torque converter lock up clutch. How does one fix this? My guy says I can replace the fluid (not covered by warranty) or I can replace the entire TQ converter (covered) where they'd have to drain and refil the fluid anyways.
This is all alien to me, WILL SOMEONE WHO KNOWS PLEASE MAKE SENSE OF IT FOR ME?? I thanks you a million times.

The lockup clutch is applied hydrualically to mechanically lock the input and output of the TC. If the lock up clutch is smoked, I can't see how replacing trans fluid will help. Maybe if you are not getting good prussure through the front pump due to debreis in the system. I would think your only option is to rebuild or replace the TC completely. You can have it rebuilt by Protorque or FTI or replace it with new OEM one from dealer. If you do, let me know as I will buy your dead core.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
If they are offering to replace the TC, I do not see what the issue is. Let them do it, if that does not fix the issue, the rest of the trans must be under warranty as well????
Good luck
