asp idler pullies installed!!!

I finally had a chance to get these on,the last 2 weeks have been rough but they are on.

I had to use a washer for the tentioner pulley because with the dust cover it would hit the pulley and cause it to not spin smooth.

While driving I still got the squeaky chrip the slowy went away.I have been trying to chace this for a while now and it might be another pulley thats causing the noise.

I will see how the car sounds on cold start in the morning and go from there.

On a good note the supercharger engages smoother now,it might be from holding the tentioner wide open to get the belt off and that took off some pressure on the the belt but the car is engaging smoother.

I had 3 or 4 times when I couldnt tell if the blower was engaged and I havnt felt that in a while.

Good stuff... I like the jerky engagement, gives the beast a raw feeling... Although, last time I had a few clients with me and they thought it was quite amusing a Mercedes would jerk like that LOL

try this, put a socket on the tensioner and lift it all the way up like your are changing the belt.

Hold it there for like a min and then let it tighten back on the belt, you might have a small belt and should have almost no jerk with a 168mm pulley.

Hey skratch, is that noise you are talking about more noticable on start up and goes away after the engine reaches normal temps? I ask because I am trying to chase down what I thought was the idler pulley, but now think it is another pulley making noise.

thats exactly what Im trying to chase down. Iwill find out in the morning if my car makes the noises anymore.Im afraid it might be coming from the clutch because I can hear it when the blower engages.

Im changing the clutch next threw the warranty so Ill let you know.

ha... So even your 178 engages smooth? I am running something real close to that. It is what Renntech calls extra large pulley. I am pretty sure it is 170 something. according to them larger creates no real gain because heat offsets it. I don't really no, but my car runs good.

Please do let me know. I don't think mine is the clutch though.

technically I have a 180 but its 178mm when I measured it.

you might have a 172 or a 180,I know they made both and they are kinda right,A 172 will make consistant power over a 180 and once the ecu pulls timing you are just as fast as a 172 if not slower.

My car in the heat last week trapped 114,115 and 118 after a cool down, that is STOCK e55 traps so heat def killed power.

Im having shardul make me a 170mm pulley after I test out a 80mmtb

Yeah it is amazing what high DA does to our motors.

I notice your PB trap is 122.06. mine is 121.31, but my best ET is only 11.86. I have always been a bit curious about that. I guess it is all in the 60. My best is 1.76 on streets.

Its the heat.on my runs i had crazzy speed up to the 1/8 th mile and then lost power in 3rd gear.i trapped 98 mph in the 1/8th on that run and would of ran in the 10s if i kept the temps under 120 degrees.

Last week i trapped 95 in the 1/8th and only 114 at the back end because the heat made the car fall on its face endo style lol

And new england dragway is known for having low trap speeds.ots probably the lowest reading radar in the country.

okay its 8:30 AM and im going to video the car starting up from being cold all night.

It sqweeked for about 10 seconds and then went away.I need to drive it on boost also to see if the noise is gone since before it would make the noises until warmed up.

I have the ASP pulleys as well installed. I had a similar squeak on start up and now is a massive squeak that stays there until the car is totally warmed up. I have no idea what it is. My first thing to do is pull off the Supercharger belt and see what happens when i start it.

Every once in a while I will here that same squeak at cold start. I am currently on all stock pulley's minus the crank pulley, at least for another hour or so ;-)

you know what,I think its the darn belt now that you mention it.It only does it when its cold out and goes away real fast.

The supercharger belt is new but the other is as old as the car.I will order a new belt and see if it goes away.

I changed most of the pullies and its still doing the same exact noise so I dont think the pullies are out of alignment.

Have you checked for wobbly bears on any pulleys. I has that same noise on cold start and one of my bearings was bad. They changed the pulley and it went away but now it's back. I have a wrap kit for the SC pulley and I'm wondering if that is causing premature wear on the bearings. I'm very curious to see what you find out.

if your wrap kit has some sort of device to add tension to the belt in addition to the sc tensioner then yes it may cause the bearing to fail prematurely.

Where is everyone getting this pulley kit from and for how much are these puppies going? My searches just seem to bring up date threads from a few years back.
