I have the same question. Reasonably faster pump flow should increase cooling through a stock system, thus increasing air density into the intake through the superchargers.

Someone must have measured how an upgraded pump only increases HP, mileage and torque vs the standard system with an stock pump.



Please no tunes or pulleys factored in. This might be the next step.

I have not, however i have read some threads stating that they like to rape on shipping charges so watch out for that. Someone else can prolly chime in here.

If someone did want the CWA50 pump. (A.K.A BMW pump) It flows a healthy 7.9gpm. Thats better then The stock Bosch pump and I think better then a johnson CM30 You can get that pump for $210 at parts.com that BMW part number is 11517566335.

Are these two new pumps options identical to the original with regard to the plug socket (same wires and plug, or do you have to cut and solder?) and the input / output ports on the pump itself (do they aim in the correct directions to mate with the factory hoses?)

I'd be curious to hear anyone's opinion about the noise level of all these various pump options.....stock vs. Cm30 vs. Meziere vs. these two new options?

Some guys don't seem to care about adding a louder pump (it seems the Meziere is reported as a lot louder than stock) but I'd like to keep my car quiet.

I had purchased a Meziere BUT used the Johnson CM30 because the Meziere was loud.........

When I get mine in I will no more about installing it. My guess is its not going to be PnP. Like you said, getting 12v to it shouldn't be an issue. Also being that it is an OEM part for some cars. I would think it quite.

I think you hit the nail on the head. This could be a good replacement/upgrade to the guys running the CM30. Even if guys choose to use the BMW pump (CWA50)

Sure you do.

The innerwebs truly have given the power back to the consumer. I would be surprised if you would ever get a better price at a dealership than online. Then again, I scour the internet for deals because in general, it is worth my time for the $ saved.

Got my pump

I stand slightly corrected. The SLS pump is the same size as the same size as the BMW pump. I thought it would have been a bit bigger, being that it flows more than the BMW pump. Something to note: With a small Torx bit you can unscrew the top of this pump and adjust the angle of the outlet. I'm slightly amazed a little pump like this can flow about 11gpm. Here are some pics.

I have my guys tracking down the electrical connection clip as I write this. As soon as I find the clip I will pass on its part number. It should make retro fitting a bit easier.

Lastly I'm still waiting on the SLS mounting ring also available from the dealer for $20. That should also help finding a good spot to place the pump.

Other then the flow numbers, inlet/outlet top and rubber bracket retainer. this thing looks identical to the BMW pump.

Those are nice looking pumps but W136 is almost impossible to beat. Durability, price and stated flow.

Speaking of stated flow, none of these pumps can flow close to what they state real time. Dont worry about to much flow. You need quality and strong pump to push as much water through small lines and H/E lines. Head pressure, is what slows flow and kills weak pumps.

The bucket flow test is also a joke, hook the pump up live and test flow then. With our small lines, it would be hard to see over 5gpm real time.

Mez wp136 next to stock pump.

The Mez is a performer, no doubt. Only thing is I had a Jabsco pump and its was loud. The Mez looks to have a similar electric motor as some Jabsco. That was the only thing that made me sell mine. To bad I found out it was a bit loud after I bought it. Kinda felt bad about returning it on those grounds. So I never got around to installing it. In any event, I have this SLS pump, so I might as well give it a try. Who knows, I might wind up back with a Mez pump.

On another note I kind of like exploring new avenues. Someone has to be the test mule I guess

Quiet is where it's at for me as well.....

A lot of guys want the car to be as loud as they can get it, but I'd prefer to add performance and keep the noise as close to stock as possible. I appreciate you doing this research and providing other options beyond what is already out there.

Looking forward to the install and your impressions on the performance and noise level.

I haven't done the install yet. I was going to do an 82mm throttle body I found online, at the same time. In a nutshell that deal did not work out. I will have the pump install soon enough.
