What do you guys think about these wheels?

I'm going to pick up a spare set of wheels to use at the track and these in polished aluminum will run $700 delivered including polished lugnuts. They only come in 18X8 and require 245/40-18 tires on all four corners. Do you think I would notice a difference on a road course between these and the rear 18X9 rims with 265/35-18's that come with the car?

Any comment on the appearance or build quality if you've seen these in person?

beauty is in the eye of the beholder .. but for the functionality of the wheel, i would NOT change the rear width of the wheel to a narrower tire & wheel. even if you are not driving aggressively the 2454018 in the rear is going to cause significant more amounts of oversteer to the vehicle. im in the tire business and i know how widths of tires and wheels can effect the vehicle's dynamics. just my two cents. hope your 03' comes in soon

i don't think they look anything special they look actually like E430 sport 98 wheels

i wouldn't get them on an E55
go for doublespokes AMGs
much more class/finesse/sportiness all in the same wheel

these would cheapen an MB look

just my opinion

don't take it too seriously

Evidently you like them, but they are not for E55. They look like 'cruising' boulevard wheels rather than High-Performance or Sporty Racy type wheels. For $700 you can get some forged wheels or the 19" AMG Double Spoke 2 piece. Go with a Benz Tuner wheel:

AMG
Brabus
Carlsson
Fab Design
Kleemann
Lorinser
MAE
Renntech

Or:
BBS
OZ

The price $700 is for all 4 wheels delivered with lugnuts. I just want to use them for track use.

If you are looking for cheap track wheels how about these new Enkei LM1:

18X8.0 et35 $199
18X9.0 et35 or et38 available

Or these TSW Sting:

18X8.0 et35 $199
18X9.0 is available I believe (www.tsw.com)

Both at www.tires.com

I think If you wanted these wheels then they should be for "cruising" as E55Kev said. The fact that you are getting these for a 211 E55 makes this even more true. The 265 rear tires on the the 211 are already too small. Even the the 390 hp M5 has 275mm tires. All the other "V8 kompressor" engine cars have 285 rear tires. You are going to have an extremely tough time gripping the road with 245's on the back; you'll need all the grip you can get when you are on the track.
