For giggles, I messaged him on eBay and asked if he would take 85K. He said no and countered back 90K.

That makes more sense. Didn't think anyone would pay that much for a C63 in the states. Originally Posted by tariqc63

Guys in the UAE might be very interested in this car.

I don't follow this. Shouldn't the car be listed on ebay.whatever country you're trying to sell it in? And why wouldn't someone from said country just buy one from ebay US for 50k? even with the double prices of mods it still won't = another 45k? Or better yet buy a brand new one for $70

Exactly. And how much are the import costs, duties payable for this country. A lot of people do this with cars from England to Australia but you have to be prepared to pay nearly double what the asking price is to get it landed.Originally Posted by JeffDL

Ok guys here is goes,
2 years ago I use to work for one of the biggest Motorcycle Dealerships in the entire Country, my job title was Export Manager. I sent out about 20 Containers of motorcycles a month to Eastern Europe, and South America. The mark up in Eastern Europe is about 85% on new or used Motor Vehicles it being a CAR, Motorcycle, or even a 4 wheeler. Most of the business I did was on new product only, however used stuff was selling as well. We had huge contracts with dealerships over seas that bought all this with us making only a bit and of course them getting rich of our product. There was different things that involved a sale like this. First of all there were shipping costs and also Taxes which varied from country to country. Germany had 28% of TAX on the bill of sale of a specific vehicle on top of what the shipping was, and of course to register such a vehicle it had to meet all regulations. For Example when I shipped a Infinity G35 which here in the USA has the turn signals in the back build into the rear tailights and light up red when turning, in EUROPE that is a big NO NO. The turn signals must be orange/amber so we had to find aftermarket tails and make sure it was all up to specs. There are a lot of different regulations that need to be met when it comes to shipping something that has to be registered in a different country.
The C63 should never be listed on our EBAY there is EBAY.DE for Germans, there is Allegro.PL for Polish EBAY and of course all different countries have different ebay or ebay like websites. Marketing the car here makes no sense at all, this is why we don't see cars from Europe being marketed here on EBAY.com or any other site. There needs to be a broker that does all this and takes care of shipping and all neccesary documents along with modifications of vehicles to be accepted into a different country.
No offense but I think Tariq wanted to sell the car in the US for that much money if he knew anything about the market there and wanted to sell it there he would go the right way about marketing his car and moving it to the papers or websites there. If he didn't want to sell it for that here he would not come up with the silly aftermarket list and also the silly response to one of the other members that he would not do the car for 80K.
Maybe this will help

Why is car listed on USA eBay and not for the applicable country then?

so why doesn't everyone and their sister buy a new one and sell it over where ever it is you're trying to sell it for $40k profit? You know in Australia they are like $160-180k new you should try for that market. An M5 will run you like 250k down under you could make 100's of thousands on that one.
no you don't know what you're doing but good luck with the sale. The only way this could possibly work is if you imported the car yourself then tried to sell it once it was there after it was registered in that country. but hey what do I know.

Agreed, if this was the case I'd be doing this all day. I think there's more to this and Tariq got caught with his pants down. LOL @ the $9,500 headers.Originally Posted by JeffDL

Hmm as far as I know there is no ebay for saudi arabia (domain at least), hence it should be posted on ebay global's site, instead of the US for international sales (whether this causes it to also show up a listing on the US site I'm not sure).
That said, as far as I know further, UAE prices on mercs are very similar to US pricing, so I would be very surprised if SA pricing was that drastically different.
