If you dead hook, ESP wont even kick in, hence - leave it on. Turning it off/leaving it on is all the same if the launch is right, drag radials or not.

Your time does not start once the tree goes green, it starts when you start moving so you can sit at the green until you are 100% ready. I like to run myself I never pay attention to who is next to me, unless it is a BMW of course (LOL) other than that I like to practice my launch techniques.

Are you sure about that? I still have to back pedal a little with the traction control on, if not I'll spin into 2nd gear.
