LTs on the way ... worried about emissions...
I'm new the forum and registered because I had a few questions. I have LT headers on the way and I am worried about emissions testing.
Does a tune solve the issue? In this state, I believe they simply plug into the port and ran a scan for codes etc. I do not believe they use mirrors or visual from what I remember, it's just a plug and view for codes.
Will a tune solve the LT problems with emissions?
Thanks in advance.

I have headers and nop cats and pass with no CEL on.
E63 not E55
I am allowed 1 "not ready" in ole Utah while some states its 2 that are passable.
Either case, you would need to talk to EC or Jeremy at OE tuning for their tuning box (tiny little thing you keep in glovebox). They will give you 2 tunes. One to pass emissions and the other for flame throwing throughout the year.
Kleemann has a program that gives false greens so no need for an extra tune....heads up on that. Nice clean tune so that is always an option. You would send them your ECU to program once.
Otherwise when you whack those O2s for LT install, it's CEL city/lots of Not Readys for sure.
Its not a false green the ecu knows the catts are not present and they click to not monitor them in another chip on the ecu so they dont throw any codes.
Big difference from fooling the ecu with messing with 02s voltages and hacking the tune to pass.
All my 02 readings are reading like normal on my scan tool and my ltfts are working and are set to 6.25 on both banks and they change with the weather and how I drive my car.
All my readiness monitors are ok and working also.
For piece of mind just send it to kleemann and get there flash.
I have tried going the hacked tune way and had my monitors stuck saying not ready for a few months but in my state that wont pass becasue they need to see all the monitors passing.
I have also tried the extended bung and that didnt work so I finally fessed up and sent the ecu to kleemann
Quick note. Even Cory will tell you there have been a few cars that have even given him trouble on going almost all greens but it's very few.
May want to invest in a a program called Auto Enginuity
Great data logger and it will tell you straight up when the car is ready to go to emissions and how many "not readys" you have.
Couple hundred bucks but will save you in heartache when it's time to get emissions. There are a lot more high tech options out there so check around. Just what many guys use here. It can literally take a hundred miles or more on the car for it to run all tests and have you go to one "not ready" light so be patient when you get your long tubes and Klee tune on the car.
I know all of this is a pain, but such is life when modding these beasts. You will freak on the HP she makes! Tune and headers gotta be an easy 50-60wheel.
