Lightweight Battery, losing more fat
#26
I can't believe people are still saying crap like this, these are 5 to 10 years old cars, all the high money ballers have moved to other platforms, now we are left with the true enthusiasts, and they spend their mod dollars wisely.

I agree. People making comments like that guy always make me laugh. Hell most people with lots of money dont throw it around in what ever direction the wind blows. That is how they got lots of money to begin with. I'd bet you that guy doesnt have any real money.

So, is it possible to run a lighter battery without having eventual starting or charging issues? My battery is on it's way out and the C6 replacement seems to be the only reliable choice.

if anybody has the possibility to test if a Deka ETX20L or ETX16 is capable of starting our engine, as I suppose it should be,
I'll tell you a way you can get very nice results at the cost of just about 100$ (that small battery) and small mod ..
I said those Dekas because, even if I do not have those models at hand, I know it is good and because I know their size(ETX18L would be best but it's a bit too long and would require a bigger mod).
any other comparably good battery (also sizewise) would suit.

yes, it's possible and maybe also at low cost

if you guys are interested to BOTH have your car 50lbs lighter when running at the track
AND have your car OEM battery-powered when you return back home from the track,
just do what I said and post pic of the test and the battery when done.
(those battery type are in descending order of preference powerwise and increasing order of the amount of mod required to fit them.)
therefore, should ETX20L work good with its 310CCA, it would be the easiest fitment.
why I 'm supposing it should start the engine ? .. because, IIRC, our Starter motor is rated less than 2000Watts and that means it would absorb just about 160Amperes. Now, what I suspect is the rated 2KWatt figure is an average and not the peak .. that's why test is required.
