Drive Dynamic Seats Option.

I am specing my '04 E55 (now that NAV will be available), and wondered if the guys who have the Drive Dynamic seat option on their '03's could comment on its usefulness, how it works and if it is worth the money?

.....and whether or not the massage function is only included with the dynamic seats (in the US) or if they're available without.

I've had my E55 with drive dynamic seats for 2 weeks, and since it's still in the 1,000 mile break in period, I haven't really pushed it, so the true benefit of them is yet to come! I bought a pre-spec'd car, and the drive dynamic seats are pricey ($1,150), but I do like the way the outside bolsters inflate on hard turns to help keep you in place in the seat. The massage function is also nice (not available without drive dynamic seats, according to owners manual)--just like in United first class!! Would I get them if I had a choice upfront? Probably not, since I wouldn't have experienced the benefits at that point, but then again I said that about things like self-diming mirrors, rain sensing wipers, etc. on pervious cars, and now wouldn't buy a car without them.

Poursha, does the air con option on the seats come standard with the drive dynamic option or only as a separate option?
I see from the pictures that you got your car from RAB in San Raphael, driving by there this week (I live in Sonoma) I see they have a black '03 E55 on the lot! I'm amazed, sign of the times maybe!

Active ventilated seats are a separate option. This is a great option--I use it all the time--no more hot, sticky legs.

The E55 on RAB's lot is one they bought from somebody, has under 1,000 miles, and they're asking $15K over MSRP.

I beleive Multicontour seats are standard on E 55. But if one orders Drive Dynamic, one does not get credit for having returned Multi which one effectively does since multi and Drive dynamic are alternatives.

As far as I am concerned, this makes Drive Dynamic for E 55 overpriced.

Any thoughts?

Multi contour is the same as in the previous model corrct? if so I agree the Drive Dynamic are over priced @$1150.00. Another question, can you still get the 2 tone interior option if you spec Drive Dynamic?

Poursha, that sounds like a typical RAB practice, at least from my experience. I can order a car @MSRP at my local dealer in Sonoma County, did you pay more than sticker?

question re multi contour

after searching a number of threads regarding the multicontour seats could some confirm this feature as always being standard on the e55? i hope to get an 03 or 04 next yr.

pbglas- "I beleive Multicontour seats are standard on E 55. But if one orders Drive Dynamic, one does not get credit for having returned Multi which one effectively does since multi and Drive dynamic are alternatives.

looks like the seats could have 1- multi contour. 2- massage. 3- drive dynamic. 4- ventilation. some of these options travel in bundles

i'd like to have the ability to adjust bolsters, lumbar, thigh support. based on the threads i searched it seems the active ventilation will be neat as well.

i sat in an e55 and it made my c32 feel like a park bench!!!

thanks in advance for any feedback/info.

If you order dynamic you get all those features in an 04 except (perhaps) ventilation.

i think ventilation and dynamic seats come in the premium package; they both did in '05 and i think in '04 as well (not as sure about '03). not really familiar with "multicontour", so i can't comment on that.

the dynamic seats are available with two-tone seats as well as solid charcoal.

this option is sort of ludicrous when you think about it, and then you drive a car with it engaged and your mind clouds over because all you can think about is how cool it is! the first time i test drove an e55 with the dynamic seats i thought they were a bit overrated; more like a guy sticking a broom-handle into your kidneys when you went around a turn. but after the second test drive and since owning the car, i have come to appreciate the utility and flat-out coolness of this feature. not to mention, you can choose either the "dynamic" engagement or, when it's off, you can really dial in the "vise-like grip" of the side bolsters around your lower midriff, which is also very cool.

notwithstanding my early skepticism, i'm very partial to this option on the e55!

get a car that has every option you want and can afford you will love them all. Half the fun of a car like this is all the gadgets. The other half is the gas pedal!

I have all of those options and also the two-tone charcoal & blue interior

Get all the options if you can! the "massage" function is alrite but it's somewhat subtle and slightly distracting while driving, but the chicks love it
