I just talked to them for an hour or so.Its going to cost me a lot of money to get this mold done as it needs to be made out of aluminum.
I am going to make this box flow as much as possible and basically give them my car to make sure it will fit.
They way it looks and depending on how many people want one I would need to sell them for at least 60-700 bucks and that will be with real 3m carbon wrap on them since my friend is a ceritfided 3m installer.
So how many are in for 600-700?

what size tb is this box going to mate to 74 80 82?
Also keep in mind the guys who use the flange on the 82mm have less clearance with the fierwall. will this be addressed?
just trying to clear thing up so later on there are no issues.

The MB 82mm dosnt need an adapter plate, you just need to open up one of the holes a litte bigger to make it fit the inlet. But some people made a plate with new holes, some cut there stock inlet off and made there own new plate ect.The best way is to make this mate like a stock setup and use rings/gaskets to fill the bigger hole depending on what tb people use.
either way Im sure you guys could make it work with your setups.Like now I found out my renntech box was made for the 80mm this whole time and they stuch a plastic ring in it to make the stock tb fit tight.WIth the ring out it fits my 80mm perfect with the black tb ring thats on the stock car and if I were to get rid of the ring Icould probably fit an 82mm tb on also.

If we can get a list of people that are in for the 600-700 price range I will see if its worth it for me to make this happen.
If I can get 5 100% in I will start this project.

God Damn that is perfect!!
I would suggest buying the best airbox/Intake out there and then take it to your guy to copy them and return the unused copied unit. This way you and your guy and sell tons of the knock offs that will perform too.

When I store my car next month ill take off the parts and have them start making them.
I think I'm going to make a set of intake tubes first and see how those go

Bump for update. I have a supplier in China right now that specializes in making carbon fiber airboxes although they have indicated they have not made one for the e55 before. The prices are relatively cheap, probably around $300-$400 for 100% real carbon product! My only issue is that I do not have any specifications or drawings of the exact dimensions.
If somebody can provide me with this information including for the intake tubes and engine cover then I could have them get to work on exact copies. Let me know guys! I can get this thing going

Yeah sending them the actual parts would probably be the best way to ensure they make perfect copies. I personally do not have these parts or I would send them off for they can get working on creating the parts. I am sure nobody on the forum will want their expensive parts being sent over to China, but hey it would be a great help!
