Am I nuts????...to want to buy a used w211 e55
Hey guys,
I've been tempted to get back in the game again with a used purchase. I sold my 1999 w210 five years ago after five great years of ownership. I had some minor mystery issues but all said I was very happy with the car. Now I have the cash and itch again to pick up a new ride. I've heard crazy things about the w211's from 10g's to fix that air stabilization to 10 different pullies to fix the SC to fried trannys. Is it crazy to buy a 60k mile car out of warranty? Is there any company that would warranty one of these 6-7 year old cars?
Which model year did they work the most bugs out?
Or should I hope to find another low mile 01-02 w210 and play with something I'm familiar with?
Thanks,
A

Get one and enjoy it. All cars break. You can always get an extended warranty if you worry about it. Read the fine print though. They don't always cover "everything".

These cars are reliable when maintenance is kept up. Aftermarket has come along way for these cars and there is a wealth of knowledge in this sub forum. Go for it mang, you wont be sorry.

I've had mine for about a year now. The only issue to date is an occasional glitch with the nav gps, which I think is due to water in the antenna, when it rains Has given me no other issues. I bought it with no warranty.
Just do your homework and go over the car. If you are not that mechanically inclined, take it to a reputable shop and get a PPI.
Then enjoy it.
