swapping to steel suspension, non coil over method
Based off what serge sent me for the coilover setup, the OEM MB parts you need total around $440 from online. I then went onto Bilsteins website for shocks and struts and they total around $600 for the sports suspension. Lastly if you want to be dumped go with H&R or Eibachs for a 1.5" drop. That is roughly $250 so for $1300 in parts it can be done. That is not bad at all.

Did you include the bump stops and strut mounts for the front? I don't think the coilover setup needs those ( or rather, they are included with the coilovers ) but regular steel suspension does.

Woah, even better. I did not include the bump stops as I did not know you needed them. Here is a pic of a steel suspension E350 W211 with H&R springs, looks da business if you ask me. These springs are for sale in the suspension section for $150 shipped too

Keep in mind H&R coilovers also require the oem bump stops and strut mounts. At least they did on my G35.
They are also quite stiff, not bone jarring stiff but for some coming from airmatic I don't know how much you'll appreciate them.
