Race fuel
Hey
Guys need a bit of advise
Can we run 100 Ron in our E55 without a fuel map to that Ron?
My car is mapped to 97 Ron shell fuel, that the best fuel we use here in the UK .
Been told our ECU can run up 101 without any probs?
Thanks In advance

Clueless on the Ron thing but the car has to take time to adapt to whatever fuel you put into it. So if you are planning on heading to the track, gotta drive around for awhile with that higher RON fuel and let the car adapt to it. It's a good 20 miles plus.

you won't gain anything. The car makes the most power on the lowest octane without detonation.
In addition, certain race fuels (usually 100 r+m/2 and above), have a different stoich a/f ratio, meaning without the right tune, you are again giving up power.

The car does not adapt. It is not magic, and it cannot read what the pump says.
The only way the car will adapt is if it is detonating, it will pull timing. If it is pulling timing on 93, then you will notice the car is stronger on 95+.
Aside from that, the car will not advance the timing or alter the A/F ratio.

Brabus786, BP sell 103 octain stuff at a very high price in the UK at certain filling stations, never tried it, but people say it makes no differance at all.

Hey
The one I want to try is the shell 100 csc which is only in the UK. But it is 25litre for £88 ,
I will do a test you both fuels on the dyno in the future and keep you all updated .
