600HP/650TQ BHP for under $3000?

Would a 172 pulley , headers, and custom dyno tune put me around these figures?

I think with those mods you'll probably be close. To date, the most effective mod list for the E55 has been:

1) 180 mm ASP pulley
2) 82 mm TB
3) Long-tube headers + mid x-pipe
4) Mild cooling upgrade (heat exchanger + dual aftermarket IC pumps)
5) Custom dyno tune

And for track purposes, you should also add...

6) Quaife LSD or equivalent
7) A good set of drag radials (M/T or Hoosiers)

Extras....

8) Carbon Fiber air boxes
9) Carbon Fiber tubes
10) Top Mounted Inter-Coolers
11) Meth, NOS, etc...

I think a nice set of long tubes (MBH or EC), a 172 pulley and a dyno tune by either Jeremy or Jerry will put you damn close to those numbers (BHP).

I would think with those mods(172, long tubes, dyno tune, appropriate cooling, of course), you should probably dyno around 480-500rwhp and 570-580rwtq...am I wrong folks?

I got MBH tubes($3k alone), 180mm pulley, cooling and made only 430whp on mustang dynometer. I know mustang reads low, but still.

Yes, looked for used parts in the classified section..

Labor on the header install needs to be considered too..

MBH with mid pipe is a DIY'er dream. I did a full install at home in my garage.

are MBH headers really worth TWICE as much as EC's?

E55 AMG
I put down 476/540 at the wheels with a 185 pulley, TTM injectors/rail, EC HE, stock exhaust and custom Jerry tune on a mustang dyno. I am hoping to gain an extra 30-40 whp with EC LTH's.

What kind of rwhp gains have the guys with long tube headers seen, assuming they have the basic mods like an upgraded pulley and tune?

Mine looked like this. If looking at the delta of on my car. I picked up 94whp and 127wtq from stock till now. With only 3 mods. MBH Headers, 180mm pulley, and Dyno-Comp tune.
First Dyno chart shows Stock vs MBH Headers only

In this graph you see MBH headers only vs MBH Headers, 180mm pulley, Dyno Comp Tune.

LOL..... no worries.... The mods I listed above tend to yield the best results on the track regardless of how much power they show on the dyno. I've seen many cars do it over and over again.

In general, dyno numbers will always vary from day to day let alone from dyno to dyno and state to state.... In fact, I've seen posted dyno sheets of the above mods putting down anywhere from 430 rwhp to 520 rwhp on different dynos

On the track, however, (specifically at Famoso raceway) I've seen those mods yield 11.0 to 11.30 @ 125 to 127 mph in 1600 ft DA. I would bet that time can be cut down another 0.2 seconds in negative DA.

To OP if talking about at the crank then yes, otherwise 600whp would be a def no. Either way the setup you're looking into will get you a very fast/quick car.
