Unhappy Squealing

See video. Happens only on cold starts.

Probably from a pulley right? Should I be concerned?

Sounds like one of the pulleys. That's kinda what mine sounded like before I purchased a set of ASP pulleys.

Pull the SC tentioner back and lock it there. Use a allen key to hold it back. See if the noise goes away.

same sound I have I know it's the idler pulley shared with the SC idler. They sell it at the dealership for $700

The most over priced part ever.

Sounds like a loose bearing in the idler pulley.
Use a long screw driver and put your ear to it to isolate the noise.

$700!? Ouch

The sound goes away after the car warms up... Odd? Should this be replaced immediately or?

Check that ---ker. Same thing happened to me last week, SAME noise. Pull the belt off and see if it jiggles. If it's not on there true and tight, that's your problem.

I've never seen a 55k car without that noise when it's cold they all get them no matter the model. If it really bothers you change it out but mine ended up coming back after a while . If you get the ASPs let me know how it works out

I have the same noise.
I'm sure it's the belt tensioner.

tbal, I have a great setup that my guy who works out of a shed in Paterson put together for me. It routes the belts to the rear axle and back to the engine bay. We coat the whole system in diamond dust to make it extra durable. $4,000 for the whole setup, pay to play bro.

Hey Man

Before you drop some cash on pulleys etc - check your water pump.
I have the same noise on cold start ups and it was diagnosed as the water pump.
Tech told me that there was no wobble or looseness, so if I could live with the squeal, it will still last a while.

Just my 2c anyway

good luck with the fix

I have been trying to chase down a similar noise for the last few months. The squeal goes away after the engine warms up. I swear my 55k is louder than my dads old 300D

Mine sounded like that and swore it was the idler pulley. It turned out to be the serpentine belt. Try taking off the supercharger belt, or spray a little wd-40 or something on the serpentine belt and see if the squeak goes away.
