akebono brake pad review and a surprising benefit to 20's

Today, my OCD took hold and washed, glazed and waxed the car...this gave me an opportunity to evaluate how "dustless" akebono brakes are - here's the quick run down - pretty dam dustless. . . here's pics of the wheels after about 600 miles (driven in the rain, dry, highway, backroads, etc and not TOUCHED for those 600 miles - no wheel wax - no prep....nothing):

Fronts:

Rears:

and the surprising benefit of 20's....

Needless to say, my calipers have never been so clean

Very Nice. So those are OEM rotors and Akebono ceramic pads?

Those wheels are sweet!

I had EBC on my Jaguar, but I'm going with Akebonos when I need them.

Your wheels look seriously great.
I have Akebonos as well (on evosports) and white brake calipers. I don't think they'd be white if it wasn't for the Akebonos.

Definitely great pads, one of the reasons why we always stock them... low dust, great bite, and very quite.

So how are the initial bite on these? I've heard that the Akebonos being ceramic need a bit of warm up before braking like stock. I have a BIG hill coming out of my driveway and dont want to roll into traffic! hahha

Thanks!

(also, as everyone has said, your wheels look amazing).

Seriously, Im pretty sure they would not sell them if that was a problem. Marion Andretti may notice the difference.

Seriously, they do sell brake pads with variance on initial bite.

I've used tons of different brake pads (from all manner of stock and OE replacement, to hawk, porterfield, Stoptech BBK, all the different EBC's, AXXIS, etc) and initial bite has been an issue on some of them.

More of an annoyance and I REALLY wasn't intimating I'd get into a wreck because of them (hence the 'haha'), I just hate pads with poor initial bite.

It really depends on the brand though and I've never used Akebono.

I can't believe your tire shop didn't place your balancing weights behind the wheel spokes. Just lazy or using a crappy balancer?

That's clean for having put 600 miles on them. Very impressive!

They are so good and the dust is so light, in color and amount, that we recently bought my wife an S5 she wanted to know if the dealer could put them on before delivering the car to us. Generally she could care less about anything such as this but the difference is so great anyone would notice.
I have them on stock rotors.

Hows the stopping power/bite compared to the oems? I used a set of these in my 6 series and felt they didnt bite as strong as the oem pads did...?
