A lovely day gone batty...
Boring start to the day here so i thought id share yesterday's adventure in frustration with you all...
Got my new used '07 e63 (36K miles, 1 week old to me) a full detail and then took to changing the front sidemarkers to clear with the wrapped bulbs (looks awesome). Went out to meet friends n parked on the mostly empty street right in front of the place we were meeting. When i came out to feed the meter i was stopped by a nice man who was enchanted with the car and we spoke for some time (which is y i was around to witness the following). The space in front of my car could have been filled with a frickin city bus and here comes mom of the year with a nasty looking windstar and 2 occupied child seats. My immediate thought, "she's gonna hit my car".
I watched her parallel park and the B never even loooked behind her, the only way she knew had gone back far enough was when she drove her bumper into mine. I didnt fly into a rage, i just pulled my sunglasses off my face and made eye contact with her to let her know i was the owner of the car she just nailed, and i didnt like it. All i intended to say to her was that in the future it would be wise to actually look when you reverse your car. With 2 children inside the car this mom of the year looked right at me, computed her options for about 2 seconds, then threw the car into drive, peeled out and took off like the wind. Nice example you set for your kids lowlife.
Thankfully hardly noticeable damage, if you get close it looks like a fingerprint smudge on the nose of the bumper.

If that was me, **** would have been flipped, cops called and mom of the year would be in a custody hearing immediately after her "hit and run" hearing.
Do not hit, graze, bump, touch, breathe on, bring drinks into, or look funny at my car.

...and you did not call her in for a hit and run, why?? I would have done it out of principle, even if the damage was not bad.

It was all too quick to get a read, or cell phone pic of her plates... I was busy watching what she was actually doing. And on the flipping out topic, i am in a new place, just moved to SoCal last week from NYC and picked up the Benz-o so am just in a generally fantastic mood. She'll get what is coming to her.

Wow. That sucks man. Most people I know would be QUITE angry. She had the audacity to just look at you in a weird way AND then speed off? As if you didn't get the color, make, model of the vehicle and what she looks like? You should've also memorized most if not all of her license plate quickly so you can get the police for a hit and run.
That essentially was a hit run of private personal property. If I were you and she did to my car(s) with the weird look and the audacity to just speed off, I'd flip her off, get her license plate number and call police for a hit and run and trace her down for the damages and repair.
I hate people like this too. No worries.

Ha! This reminds me of parking in DC. Spots are so tight around there you have to use the other vehicles bumpers as guides... Just day-to-day living down there... It's expected... That's what bumpers are for, after all!

Dude, it's just a car. I watch someone tag the bumper of my SuperSports the other day and drive off. Left a little scuff. Big deal... It can be repaired...

It can be repaired at a cost of thousands of dollars. I wouldn't just let someone come up to me and take my money out of my pocket. This is not a moment to be zen, and you're not being the bigger man by letting someone tag your car, you're letting them steal from you and hurt your property. I go out of my way to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen.

Good job but next time it may be more than a scuff. Then if you don't pay to fix it, your supersports will look like a turd box. Even if you fix it yourself, it is still costing you money because the other person is irresponsible.

I don't even see how you can argue this. We're not on a housewife/grocery-getter car forum. We're here because we're enthusiasts, we care about our cars. We detail the living **** out of them. And you're saying it's okay if someone backs into your car?
I think you need to get yourself a PT Cruiser and call it a season dude.

Living in NYC this is nothing new
I had someone backed into my car passenger came out and saw the plate bent and said it no big deal. The driver came out saw the plate frame cracked ( front plate) and said if a 100.00 was good. I said cool. I did not notice the plate holder was cracked just the plate bent. I took the 100.00 when I check the cash it was 150.00.. He was very happy I did not make a deal out of it.

I do have to say, the w211's have some tough *** bumpers.
I've had people back into my front bumper on two occasions, both while I was in the car.
The first was some pizza-delivery guy who couldn't get his car from neutral to 1st when the light we were waiting at (on a hill) turned green. His car rolled back into my car and I flipped my **** until I stepped out to notice his rear bumper completely ruined while my front plate had a small paint smudge on it that I promptly wiped off.
Second situation was the same (except the driver put it into reverse and hit me) just on a level surface with a big *** van, same result.

That's what insurance is for. I have $0 Comprehensive and Collision deductible. If it needs repaired, I get it repaired, but I don't pay for it... If it was more than a scuff, it's one thing, but a fingerprint sized scuff, big deal...
