Howling noise at high speeds

Hi Guys,

Car is making a howling/whining noise at around 240-255km/h(150-155mph), pretty much near or at the stock speed limiter. Is this some type of warning that the car is approaching the limit? It seems to be a howling from the inside of the car....

2007 E63 AMG, 50k miles, MB certified, all maintenance always done at the dealer. Tires are PS2's. There are no suspension noises, awkward anything. Power is strong, steering is good etc.

Thanks

Unless you're on the Autobahn or doing the Texas mile, stop driving so fast. You're gonna get yourself or someone else killed. That howling is death warning you.

I am driving these speeds on safe empty well lit roads. If you can't help me, then don't troll the thread.

Don't expect a lot of love for stupidity on here; especially with that as your first post. Seeing how there is no road in the US that allows for those speeds, I would say that doing so is pretty stupid.

I do have access to the Autobahns (and the Nordschleife) and I rarely even get close to those numbers.

To answer the question it has to do with the amount of air going over, under & through the car.

Panoroof makes that howl. Mine occurs on U.S. roads anytime I go over 130mph. I've gone up to 188mph and nothing flew off the car and she remained well planted so it shouldn't affect your stability or panoroof if you have one.

Thanks for responses, yes it has the pano roof. I figured it was just air, wanted to be sure.

Hi Guys Id like to confirm it is in deed the pano roof. I had someone push against the part with the interior cabin lights around the pano and the noise goes away.
