*****. Check engine light came on yesterday...
On my way to a resturaunt, Check engine light popped on as well as a "Coolant, Visit Workshop!" light. Car was at nomad temps, operating fine. So after I finished having lunch, took it straight to Autozone to have it pulled. Forgot the code # but it is a vacuum leak in the evaporative system. The guy was helpful and tried to clear the code, but no go. Then today, took it to my autos teacher to look at and he suggested a purge valve near the gas tank. Is this right? Also mentioned the coolant light to him, and he said that since the car has the right amount of coolant and average temps, that it is most likely th cap on the coolant resavoir. Anybody have any different thoughts?

evaporative system leak is not related to the coolant

Sounds like 2 different issues. Coolant message can be due to faulty auxilary fan(electric engine fan) if coolant level is ok and its not a fluid level problem.
Your purge leak(evap system leak) can be a number of different things. especially on a 211 there are a number of things that can leak. The purge valve, is located under the hood not by the tank. Maybe he ment the charcoal canister shutoff valve....either way, without testing the system for leaks, you are guessing at the repair unfortunatly

Gas caps on these cars are very sensitive, re-tighten it and wait a day, it should go away on its own. I had it happen to me a few months ago.

This is funny. I just hadvthe same issue. The purge valve is located under the hood just behind the drivers headlight. Its a small black piece. I have not changed it yet but plam on doing it in the next few days.
