Do you guys get tickets pretty often?
I currently drive an E320 but am in the market for an E55 right now. I just got a speeding ticket last night which was kinda a buzz kill. I'm thinking its going to be 100x harder to keep from not getting a speeding ticket with the E55. I'm not a reckless driver or anything but still, its hard to stay at the speed limit when the car accelerates to speed so quickly.

Nope haven't gotten one yet in the AMG. I'm still on dealer plates too after 2 years of ownership. Don't drive like a douchebag and you'll be fine.
If all else fails, take Fluffy's advise and learn to make cops laugh.

You might get a couple initially but once you realize the outcome of racing over 90% of "fast" cars is very predictable, you will engage a lot less. The most fun I have with my car now is under 65mph or at the strip.

i realized once my old E63 got the black wheels and the exterior mods pulls overs did increase . Stock i rarely got pulled over . Not unless your driving a red or yellow car that screams "im going to fast " you will be ok . MY black CL63 is stock without a front plate and driving thru NY for the last few weeks and no pull overs .

still have my Laser Inceptor sitting new in the box in my office
; just got pulled over yesterday evening for doing 55 in a 30 (try going 30 in an e55 - seriously - try it). I rarely race on the public roads but I do get a fair amount of "annoyance" with people doing less than 70 in the left lane (originally wanted to get a plate that states "MUVRGHT") - the police officer let me go with a warning - be respectful, don't be a dick and you have a 50/50 shot of getting off... either way - if you can't do the time, stay far away from the 55. . . because it'll get you when you least expect it

The wife is a lawyer here in Atlanta and the drill here is if you go to court, they will pretty much waive the points, but not the fine. It is all about the revenue with many of the cities around Atlanta starving for funds to operate.
So, most of the cops are out trying to get driving citations versus watching out for serious crimes.
I just r ecently got my E63 and as many can attest, the speed can sneak up on your very fast. It is one of those cars that doesn't even wake up until 100 so it is a real frustration keeping these AMG cars at the speed limit.
Heads up display would be nice.
But CityofAngels, the best thing is to do your fast driving on the track where there are no worries about cops, just walls you might hit !!! Out there in CA you got some of the best tracks in the Country. Infinion, Laguna Seca.
Have a great time in your E55.

I got a ticket attorney that has a pretty big file on me.
But no points and adjudication withheld on ALL.
So record is still clean. Imagine that!

I got a couple of tickets soon after getting the SL. First one, I was rolling behind a guy in the left lane going maybe 50 in a 55, but this is a road most people do 70 on (I465). He would not get over so finally the middle lane opened up. I cracked the throttle and it seemed like was instantly doing 80. Right then a cop shoots me with his laser gun. He was really cool and said I was one of the nicest guys he had ever pulled over. Then he gives me the ticket for 80 in a 55. Oh well, I was speeding.

Just know that there is a time, and a place for everything. I get plenty of 'play' in the AMG with no tickets, however, I do not act like some idiot either whether zipping in and out of traffic or blowing through residential. I am also cognitive of the CHP traps.
Just don't get too greedy and you should be just fine.

Have'n got a ticket in any car ,, Get a good radar detector 9500 or valentine and start thinking like a cop.. Don't be stupid and immature and watch the road and your driving ,, speed traps ,, The 9500ic has saved me many times . it picks up everything and gives you a audio and visual notice .. that cops are around.. safe driving ... Badm Oh , I have FUN too,, speeding with respect for the road and others

only one thus far in the 550......
but the amg has only been mine since august 7th, LOL....so I still have
plenty of time for that one, LOL....
and yeah, I'm ALWAYS working on excuses and stories if I ever do get pulled......
making the officer laugh is good advice, helps diffuse the situation.....

A friend of mine who is a police officer put this on his Facebook wall recently.
and then on the comments below it
It seems like he isn't to good with the excuses.
He has a hopped up Audi like mine so I posted:
He laughed at that one
so I am thinking maybe that would work haha.
Because you're in a hurry..... is NOT a valid excuse. SMH
Even better... "no, I didn't see the big yellow school bus"
He has a hopped up Audi like mine so I posted:
How about I am datalogging and needed to get to 8000rpm in 3rd?
David lmao hahahahahahahahahahaha

Only pull overs so far are speeding 53 in a 25 school zone, even though it was summer at abot 11 pm, which was a 35 with no school zone, front plate, not signaling coming out of a driveway onto a one way road, (seriously), and the best for last. Got pulled over for my taillights being to bright... Lmfao. No tickets on any just one written warning( front plate)

Tickets
+ 1. once you realize the outcome of racing over 90% of "fast" cars is very predictable, you will engage a lot less.
It's all about using common sense, engaging safely where you won't get in trouble, and how you talk to the cop if you get pulled. I routinely exercise my cars, why have them if you don't, but apply the above and stay out of trouble.
I havn't gotten a ticket in over 20 years, but have gotten a few warnings.

Rear fogs were off, aswell as fronts. Told him they were stock and it's always like that. Then he kept talking to me about the 55. I guess he thought it was a Pontiac.. Wow
