e55 with e63 steering wheel ??

Sorry but I have searched and cannot find out how to replace an 05/06 e55 steering wheel with a new e63 (nicer paddles). If this has been well documented on here, please direct me (again I have searched, but have not found anything useful). TIA

I am also looking at the DCT flat bottom wheels (look nice) but really would like nice paddles too.

I have done this mod to my DCT steering wheel. You can do this mod if you're good with a dremel (or have access to a mill), drill and an exacto knife (belt sanders are a good thing to have as well for the PCB modification)

In order to do the retrofit, you need to buy the e63 paddles, remove the existing electronics and modify your e55 pushbuttons so that they fit inside the modified paddles. This involves milling down the ridges on both the aluminum paddles and the plastic bracket it comes with.

I'm not saying it's easy, per se. If you take your time and focus on details such as cutting the steering wheel button well to the right size, drilling in the correct location for the mounting screw, you should be good.

Info that I used is here: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...-switches.html

If your datacard shows your car is a "805" year buld them e63 steering and airbag will fit straight on, otherwisse you can retrofit the paddles on the existing wheel
