Just toured Renntech's facility today

I was running a few errands today and drove by Renntech's garage. I had to stop in and check the place out. They had a modified 2003 S55 being loaded on a truck for delivery, a modified SL55, a couple of lowered flared W210's-one with $9000 worth of magnesium wheels and tires, the other with a 6 liter engine. The new Renntech forged aluminum wheels are beautiful. Currently they offer only a crankshaft pulley and ECU upgrade costing $4995 for the W211 E55 with 40 hp and 45 lbs-ft torque gain. They said aside from the kink in the air intake tube on one side, there is a difference in the intake manifold accounting for the HP difference between the E55 and the others.

There was a E500 sport in various stages of disassembly. This is their car they are converting to an E60 I believe. In the engine room the aluminum block was completely disassembled. I don't think it was fully decided if this will be supercharged or not.

Regarding exhaust, they say the stock E55 system is excellent and does not warrant changing. They have modified a few W211's and have seen very modest gains along with improved sound but at a high cost. They also recommend keeping the stock crossover pipe even if changing the rest of the system behind it.

I was given some product literature and catalog with price list. On the back page is a homage to James Cannon's E55 and his time slip from a 12.16 sec 117 mph 1/4 mile run.

When my car arrives I will revisit them again. Maybe they need a stock E55 for some testing.

I spoke to Carlsson this morning regarding exhausts, apparently their full system which includes hi-flow metal cats, headers, free flow mufflers etc gives an additional 14kw (19hp) and same torque yet costs around $7000 US, confirming Renntechs advice.
I will be leaving my exhaust alone (other than removing intermediate muffler)!!

Carlsson rate pulley/ecu/airfilter upgrade at 560hp on E55 and charge over $11,000 US!!!!! Renntech at $4995 is an absolute bargain in comparison!

On another note, according to my dealer, the inlet manifolds are the same part no on E55 and SL55, but I am having my "friend" double check.

On my S600 I've found RENNtech's products work as advertised, their prices are quite reasonable (for the Mercedes world, anyway), and they know what they're doing.

On a personal note, Hartmut is a great guy and a fellow enthusiast. We had a fine time hanging out and shooting the breeze after the S600 tests with Car and Driver last weekend.

You'll find my S600's timeslip on the home page of their website, too

Cars and boats!
Whats up guys, Yea, I pass by RENNTech a lot also...seeing that Im a dealer! Hartmut is a great guy...very knowledgable and great to hang out with. They got some bad *** stuff in that facility and IMO every buck spent is worth it. I have a Stage 1 upgrade on my ML55 and its definately a big difference, even on a n/a motor. I know for fact that the RENNTech upgrades for the supercharged motors bear great gains. My cousin has the ECU upgrade and pulley kit for his C32 and it brought his car down from a 13.8 to a 13.2 consistantly...and all this with a broken intercooler. I am sure that vehcile can break the 12 second mark!!! The E55 with the upgrades should easily break the 11 second mark.....on street tires!!!

As I didn't plan the visit, I wasn't prepared with a camera. Sorry guys. Next time I'll be prepared.
