Hi I'm New
Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I just purchased my frist MB and love it. I know this seems corny to post something like this, but I figured I might as well bc I will be spending plenty of time on here. I have already learned a lot in the past few days about these cars, and I have lots more to learn. I will go ahead and post a few pics of the car too so you guys know what I drive. Also, does anybody know if this color is very common? I believe it's called Black Opal. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

If you open your driver side door, and look at the door jam, It should give you a paint code.
you can either google it or somehow find it here. I dunno if it's pretty common color, but I've seen quite a few black e55's. But mostly silver.

Looks identical to mine. My first black car so it is suprising how much more work it is to keep it clean. I love mine and come to this forum several times a day for info. These cars are rediculously fast but also amazingly comfortable to drive fast so watch out for the cops! BTW, I've seen more black E55s than any other color. Turns out there is another guy in my neighborhood with a black one too, lol

Welcome!!!!!!! and congrads!!!!!!! I think Black Opal is pretty rare - most of the black cars are either "regular" black (like mine 040 paint code) or Obsidian Black (metalic black). I believe you're the first (that i've seen who has a black opal). . .best piece of advise I can give you - clear bra the front - at the speeds which you'll find yourself driving + black car - you're front is going to get torn up with rock chips. . .(looking back at it, I wish it was the first thing I did when I got mine). . .

Awesome and thanks for the good info. Its definitely not black, its like a dark blue metallic gray. The color black Opal is just misleading with the word black in it. But I thought it seemed like an uncommon color that I haven't seen before. I had shopped online all over the country trying to find an E55 with these options. I thought it was going to be that dark gray color from the pics I saw before I went to check it out, and to my surprise it was this cool looking blue color.
I already have a few questions but don't want to be that guy that gets told to search. LOL. So I will search :-)

BTW its a 2006 with pano roof. I think the only options it doesn't have is keyless go (which I also wanted) and parktronic (which I could care less about)

It was on eBay but then ended before I was ready to buy. I then found it later through my buddy who is a dealer and went up to KC to check it out and bought it for me at a good price.

I just rolled over 80k. But I did purchase a OEM style extended warranty through my credit union that's good for 48k or 48 months. Figured it wouldn't be a bad idea on theses cars given the price of repairs and replacement parts.

LOL its an old nickname that stuck and I just ended us using on all the forums. My last name is Pinkley and an old buddy dropped the ley and replaced it with nuts and the rest was history.
