GT-ER: 100% agreed! That is why there is sometimes some room for performance improvement! But I like to see hard core numbers, not "theories". I have seen many mods that were supposed to help, but the dyno and especially the track told otherwise. This can be the result of moving the power band around out of most of the useable range, making more peak power, but lower across the average, etc.

Intakes

This intake situation , is internal combustion engine class 001 ,, the colder the air in the more horse power , I don't care how u do it and how it looks... Anything in the engine bay will not make more power /hot air ,, it may sound better and seem to respond better , but are you making more or less power .

On the roll unless you are directly behind the radiator the under hood air temp at the rad support will be the temp of the ambient air

That is not true, look at the B5 S4 audi's intake system, it to is in the engine bay and when you add a CAI to the car is does maybe a couple HP if that. That factory system along with the E55 factory system is damn efficient, so just be adding a CAI will not always bring on more power.

I did see Hadi's intake system and it made power from what he said, but I would like real world data on the same day, at the same track or dyno, thats all.

Hmmm...I could be wrong since it was many years ago, but I installed an intake on a 2.7T S4 and the air box go fresh air from the outside...not from the engine bay.

this is true as it runs into the wheel well for fresh air... the good ones at least... there are other ones that run in the engine bay and they loose power across most of the power band except wot high speed runs

fwiw none of the aftermarket b5 s4 intakes really make any power until you get over 500whp as that seems to be when intake airflow restriction comes into play over the stock 2.7tt box... and at that point everyone is running meth to cool down the intake air anyways so without the meth the engine bay intakes on the 2.7tt's probably would result in more pulled timing without the meth

i think getting meth to work right on the E55 is really the next progression in these cars and a lot cheaper than TMIC

Very interesting. Do you have data logs?

Unfortunately I don't. I wasn't planning on dynoing it at all.

My intake is duel 3.5" tubes that merge into a larger Y pipe. The stock intake box is pretty good but once all the mods go on,, the stock boxes really start to hurt! Especially with super sized pulley`s..
