E55 TPMS

Is it possible to add the tire pressure monitoring to a car that didn't originally have it? If I were to get all 4 wheel sensors, is there a mod/STAR programming to tell the car it has it?

You would need the internal antennas at each wheel well and the harness which may or may not be in place, 4 wheel sensors and a TPMS module. Could be a big deal.

I guess I was curious how much of that was already in place, similar to the Bluetooth phone/puck idea so a simple plug in device and the rest is already in there...maybe the antennas and such are just little plug in deals?

Just dreaming...

I Added FULL TPMS to my Wifes W211 2006 ....I added the Wire Harness,Sensors,Control unit and LOTS of labor to install as the wire harness goes to each corner of the vehicle ...Then version code the TPMS present

Another way to go is BASIC TPMS is through the ABS system

Hmm...sorry my E55 is relatively stripped down (I'm ok with that, it's lighter) - I don't have drive dynamic seats, I don't have A/C seats, I don't have distronic cruise, I don't have the power rear sunshade, etc..and no TPMS.

What is the difference for Basic vs Full TPMS, and how would Basic be accomplished thru the ABS as mentioned?

Thanks again!

Chris
