E63 CEL Codes Help

So my CEL is on and I scanned the following codes.

2187
0171
2189
0174
0171

Shop said it is a MAF and should cost around 1200 for the part. Seems a little high. They suggested that they could try to clean it and see if it keeps throwing the codes, but he replacement may be inevitable.

Does this seem accurate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whatever we're tuning!
2187/MB code 2091 is the mixture in the right cylinder bank is too lean when idling. (P2187)
2189/MB code 2095 is the mixture in the left cylinder bank is too lean when idling. (P2189)

The codes that you referenced are generic and there are not any cross referenced MB codes for the other codes.

You have to buy the air boxes (right side p/n A1560940606(USA)/0406(Euro)) and (left side p/n A1560940506(USA)/0306(Euro))since they come with the MAF's. MB doesn't have a separate p/n for the MAF. The air boxes are $404/list.

Try resetting the ECU and see if the codes come back.

Don't buy anything yet. Clear the codes and see if they come back.

Are you having idling issues?

Definitely could be an intake gasket(as well as many other things) since that was a common problem on the early M156 engines.

car seems to run fine. when I start the car in the AM it will idle at a little over 1k for about 5-10 seconds then seems to settle down to under 1k at idle.

codes are clear now, so I'm going to give it till it pops back up before I buy anything. Also if the codes come back I am hoping air box replacement is a DIY.

Re: Codes

Mine had the same left bank code a while back, my dealer replaced the intake gaskets. Unless you have done some recent mods or other work, if the codes come back, that is likely your problem.

Bringing this one back from the dead...have gotten the P2189 code twice in the last 3 months...put K&N's on and got first one just a day after, cleared it and was great till this morning...wife says CEL is on, and its the 2189 again. Car runs/idles and gets same MPG as before...

Thoughts??
