Vegas to Florida: I dont want to overlook any prep.

Things I have already done:

Waxed car - check tires - oil changed 5,000 miles ago - air freshner - vacuum and shampoo mats -- lotion up the leather - emergency can of flat tire fix - tools - flashlight -

What am I missing? and Any suggestions to make the trip more pleasant?

I got the I-Pod ready and have SAT radio -- pillows, drinks, .45 & .22 --

I think I got it covered but never hurts to get some brainstorming.

This... and ammo for the .22 in case you need to go varmint hunting. Just don't die of dysentery.

Spend $100 on service at a dealer. You won't need the AAA card.

Exactly...
Dont take that with you if you get pulled over and searched.
A car like yours will stick out in the boonies. And your bound to run into them in the deep south.

Where are you headed to in FLA?

No mention of route. Route is an essential element of pre-trip planning.

Interstate Highway System: FAIL!

Using the same roads that I learned to drive on back in the Land Before Time.

I dont know about interstate transfer of weapons. Stay clear of illinois. Shotguns are only legal. They have extremely stringent gun laws. Im driving from MO to OC this week and had planned on taking my kimber 9mm to cali only to find out this 9 is illegal in cali. (not sure why) i was sad to part ways with this weapon as it is a sweet 9mm

Well you can plan your route based on the CCW Reciprocity with other states, TX, FL, TN, VA, etc.

Spend $100 service at dealer means nothing. Just give away the $$$ to dealer. This is for people who has no idea about cars....... the oil change is $100 and u know what, they don't even check your car if u take it for Service A, they just oil change DONE.

$100 service expenditure at an M-B dealer earns roadside assitance and TOWING, if needed, to the nearest M-B dealer for repair. It is very easy to get more than 100 miles away from the nearest dealer. Most AAA towing plans top out at 100 miles.

If you have the space, take a full size spare.

Dude, don't use fix-a-flat, get yourself and air compressor, and invest in a ABC fire extinguisher Oh, take a extra quart of Mobil 1 with you as well. I would still take my firearm with me for security. It's only illegal if you get caught , and the police will need a reason to search your vehicle for a weapon. Provided that you don't give a reason. I'd rather be tried by a jury of six, then carried in a casket by six US roads aren't safe anymore, I don't want to see you on the 6 o'clock news.

What about a detector? Borrow an Escort 9500xi, and make sure it's loaded with the latest GPS red light maps, and radar traps.

My buddy just borrowed mine for driving a car from NYC to Denver, not a single stop.

get a empty milk jug to pee in so the only times you have to stop are for gas... plus then if anyone is messing with you on the road or tail-gating you and then you have a loaded pee-bomb

When i travel on the road with my RX7 or E55
I wrap the front in the moving wrap from U HAUl. Protects the paint esp when you plan on doing that many miles on a pebble infested interstate.
Just cut holes for the radiator/oil cooler openings

When youre done you just remove the wrap. Beats taping it up with painters tape.

thanks guys -- keep them coming --

Forgot to mention that I have a 9500ix and Garmin GPS-

no spare wheel but I will bring a spare tire -- in case I get stuck in the boonies they wont need to special order the tire.

Wife is pregnant- so, I will need to stop to pee. I dont plan on making good time-- going to take it easy... 4-5 day drive -- I cant go 24/7 with the wife. So, no speeding and no tickets.

Great ideas so far -- blankets - extra oil - compressor - etc. only 1 dumb comment 'herb'
