E55 exhaust recommendations

Hey guys, was wondering what would you guys recommend to do with my exhaust? Buy a muffler? Delete res and cat? Delete just muffler, etc....
I really like how this sounds... Do people actually do this with the SL mufflers?

Thanks,
Will

Are you after power or sound?

Power comes from adding headers and deleting the cats with a nice gain in bass and very little drone.

The angry sound comes from deleting the resonators and replacing the mufflers, which does little for adding power.

Well for me power>sound.. But right now I am not looking to spend the money for LT headers, but I am willing to do a little modification up until I do buy them.

Deleting secondary cats and resonators, will that be TOO loud?

OR how about cut outs? Before the secondary cats?.... hmm, the options.

deleting res and secondary cats is fine and won't be too loud. But you could also change the mufflers. The EC mufflers might be best bang for buck. You should check Johncy2000, he loves those mufflers. I have them as well, I just haven't installed them yet. cut outs might be better for headers.

Excuse my ignorance, what are these EC mufflers? Did a search and comes up exhaust cutout?

deleting resonator will make almost no difference, you have to get rid of cats and or muffler to get any real sound

Now, do you mean both sets of cats? or just secondaries...?

Contact Jerry from Eurocharged. I remember him offering them for 400. These mufflers make the car sound very exotic. You will not be disappointed but it will take some fabrication to make the tips fit.

Honestly, deleting just the mufflers is the most cost effective and yields a really great sound. Only way to go and easily reversible.

Do the Eurocharged setup if you want a nice sounding exhaust!

Is there any way to use the EC mufflers but keep the stock AMG tips?

It would be very hard to do because the mufflers are only a single outlet. There are two pipes for each OEM muffler that are each bent in a specific way. Just use the tips that came with the exhaust and make your money back by selling the OEM mufflers to an E500 guy looking to convert to the "AMG" look. I'm sure people are looking for the e55 mufflers with tips these days.

E63 mufflers just bolt on? Where did you put your cut-outs?
