Nice to be rich
So my wife and I are visiting friends of ours when the husband says, you neeed to see what I got my wife for her 60th birthday. He gave her an MB SLK for her 50th so he figured it was time to move up. (By the way the SLK had 7,700 miles on it after 10 years.)
We go down to the garage and parked next to his S65 and GL500 (This guy has a thing for MB's) is a new AMG SLS!! He bought it in Florida because none were available in Pittsburgh and had it trucked up here.
Unfortunately, it was raining so we started it up in the garage. Car is incredibly loud and nasty sounding. Definitely, not your typical MB exhaust system. I told them it was not good for a car like that too sit for long periods of time and that I was willing to drive it when they are out of town, which is most of the time. They said thanks, but no thanks.

It must be. A friend of mine meets me at the golf course in several different cars. So far he has pulled up in an Renntech SLR, a Phantom Drophead, a 458 Italia, and a Murcialago. Says he has a warhouse to choose from. I've also been on his 132ft. yacht. Needless to say he is beyond rich. He said if I make another hole in one I get to take the SLR for an unsupervised joy ride. I'm still trying. lol

Check the used car prices on SLS's - - - once again, nothing accelerates faster the the depreciation of an AMG.

It sure looks stunning in person. At least the guy is older and earned it, not some rich 20yr old snob "pimping it" with dads money never having worked a day in his life..must be nice though.

Amen
This is a true rags to riches story and a lessen for the occupy this and that B.S. He and his wife married right out of high school. He worked his way through college as a coal miner to get a degree in mining engineering. He literally worked his way up from digging coal as an hourly worker to a senior level executive with a major coal company. He then got screwed over by a new CEO (who replaced me, I got screwed by a foreign company takeover, but that's a different story) and walked out the door. He eventually joined up with a private equity firm to buy a coal company. He sold it four years later and pocketed roughly $400 million!!

You cant blame the kids, you have to blame the parents that allow it to happen. Parents should make them work for it not hand it to them, work hard then give them a reward of getting to take the car out.

$400Million?? damn, after Uncle Sam likey $200M. But who's counting...thats alot of $$$. I'm surprised he doesnt own a porsche, lambo, fearrai..But who needs those when you have an SLS!
There will always be someone richer and faster car out there. We should all be happy that we are driving MB, even if we didnt buy it new. I sure am!

Haha I graduated from BU this year. There were some really nice cars around. Bunch of Range Rovers, AMGs and M3s, GTRs, 977TTs, and a few exotics as well. One kid from Suffolk had a SLS, another had a LP640SV, along with the usual Bentleys, Aston Martins, etc.
