This is a concern, as the problem will only get worse over time. Your going to have to bite the bullet on this one, and pay to have it fixed.

2006 E55 2004 Audi S4 (gone and missed)
my indy quoted 10+ hours labor to replace rear main seal on a 2000 ML55 I was thinking about picking up just the other day. Probably similar on our E55's.

Big Job wont be as bad as the ML55 tho since the ML is AWD you have to address the transfer case which takes more time, unlike the E55.

I have a friend (factory trained tech) who does them for $300.
If your interested, I can forward his information along.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Like said before - the transmission needs to come out... IIRC, its a 6+ hour job at the dealer.
Edit - If you need the car, keep an eye on the oil level and drive it.
If your interested, I can forward his information along.

I'm also leaking in my oilpan. So they have to lower the subframe. Its gonna be a 5.2 hour job. Now I have to do the rear main seal. AHHHHHH Maintenence is killing me. I should be saving money for the Weistec Supercharger. LOL

Thanks for the offer man! I will consider that. Where is he located? Do you think having different mechanics work on my car all the time is a bad thing? Because I goto one place for my mods and another for my maintenance. And going to your friend would make it three different mechanics working on my car.
I would not worry about who does the work, as long as they have been trained to work on the car.

2005 E55 / 2008 E63
I just did it a month ago on my 55. Yes, 8-10 hours due to tranny having to be dropped. If I'm not mistaken was $425 or so. I had no clue it was leaking, was in for regular service and pan under the engine was catching all the oil. It was never hitting the ground. Car has 70k miles.
